At present, every Chevrolet crossover and SUV, comprising Trax, Trailblazer, Blazer, and the 2024 Traverse, is either brand new or has undergone a recent update within the past two years. In comparison to its predecessor, the upcoming Equinox will present a broader array of contemporary and distinct options, featuring larger screens, new safety elements, and the first-ever outdoor-inspired trim for the Equinox, known as ACTIV.

Chevrolet will offer Equinox in LT, RS and ACTIV trims, enhancing the standard features across all variants.

Meet the first-ever Equinox ACTIV

The new 2025 Equinox ACTIV is a special version designed for those who love adventures beyond the regular roads. It has a unique look with a different front design, off-road tires, and an option for a two-color roof.

Some extra features of the ACTIV include:

  • A Rugged-looking front design with a vertical grille inserts and metallic-finished accents
  • Blacked-out logos
  • 17-inch machined-face aluminum wheels
  • Inside, it has a stylish mix of Maple Sugar and Black colors, with premium Evotex and sueded microfiber seating surfaces.
  • The word “ACTIV” is embroidered on the front seat head restraints
  • Heated and ventilated front seats, rear heated outboard seats, and a memory setting for the driver’s seat is also available with the new compact SUV.

Striking Exterior Design

The next-generation Equinox boasts a visually appealing exterior, drawing inspiration from the robust proportions seen in Chevy truck lineup and its larger relative, the 2024 Traverse. The new Equinox is 2.3 inches wider than its predecessor, giving it a more grounded and confident stance.

Notable design features include:

  • Three unique front fascia treatments for LT, RS, and ACTIV variants.
  • LT offers both chrome and Midnight Edition High Gloss Black grille finishes, providing customers with more options.
  • Squared wheel openings and fender flares contribute to a muscular visual appeal.
  • A distinctive C-pillar shark fin adds a sense of movement, creating a family resemblance to the all-new Traverse.
  • All-LED lighting with eye-catching elements, separated in the front and expanded both vertically and horizontally in the rear.
  • Aluminum wheel choices ranging from standard 17-inch on LT to available 20-inch wheels on RS, a first for Equinox.

The RS variant introduces a dynamic and bold style, featuring standard black emblems and mirrors, an optional black roof, a wide grille opening, and a high-gloss finish on the grille bar and lower fascia, along with 19-inch Carbon Flash machined aluminium wheels as standard.

Contemporary Interior with a Tech Focus

The redesigned interior of the Equinox reflects a modern and tech-driven approach, creating a spacious atmosphere that aligns with the latest Chevy crossovers and SUVs, placing a greater emphasis on technology and user convenience.

Directly in front of the driver, there’s an 11-inch-diagonal configurable driver information center. Positioned slightly towards the driver is the focal point of the interior – a new 11.3-inch-diagonal infotainment screen, over 30% larger than the current model’s largest screen. This serves as the gateway to music, media, maps, and other connected services through the built-in Google interface.

The dashboard has been pulled away, contributing to the overall sense of space.

Other notable features include:

  • The new Electronic Precision Shift on the steering column eliminates a mechanically linked range selector, creating additional storage space beneath the infotainment screen.
  • The use of engaging tactile materials and coordinated textures in seats, instrument panels, doors, and storage areas.
  • Standard heated steering wheel and heated front seats.
  • Availability of Evotex seating on LT.
  • Folding 60/40 split-bench second-row seats, providing up to 63.5 cubic feet of storage when folded.
  • Concealed rear cargo floor storage space.
  • Standard six-speaker audio system.
  • Optional wireless charging.

RS trim stands out from the rest with its Torch Red and Santorini Blue stitching on the Evotex seats, debossed “RS” logos on front row headrests, and a heated, flat-bottom steering wheel. Buyers can also opt for available heated and ventilated front seats and rear heated outboard seats.

Crafted with Safety at the Forefront

Prioritizing safety and driver assistance technology, the 2025 Equinox goes above and beyond, beginning with the inclusion of Chevy Safety Assist as a standard feature. This comprehensive suite encompasses:

  • Automatic Emergency Braking
  • Forward Collision Alert
  • Front Pedestrian and Bicyclist Braking
  • Following Distance Indicator
  • Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning
  • IntelliBeam

Additional standard safety and driver assistance features include:

  • Side Bicyclist Alert

  • Rear Seat Reminder
  • Adaptive Cruise Control
  • Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert

  • Enhanced Lane Keep Assist

All trims include Teen Driver technology, which helps encourage safe driving behavior by letting parents conveniently activate customizable vehicle settings and view their teen’s driving performance through a new Connected Teen Driver feature in the myChevrolet mobile app.

Performance and Adaptability

The 2025 Equinox introduces a 1.5L Turbo engine, generating 175 horsepower, and comes paired with a continuously variable transmission in front-wheel-drive setups, or an eight-speed automatic transmission for those with available all-wheel-drive.

Equipped for towing, the Equinox can handle up to 1,500 pounds when configured with available AWD.

In a first for Equinox, RS and ACTIV models offer driver-selectable modes, accessible through a center console rotator. Drivers can choose between Normal and Snow modes on FWD models, while AWD adds an Off-Road mode. These modes adjust the performance of the propulsion system to optimize handling based on prevailing conditions.
