There is a brand new Toyota Innova on the market. With over two million units sold worldwide, the Toyota Kijang Innova Zenix makes its global debut in Indonesia. The revamped MPV adds a new chapter to the Kijang story, which spans 45 years.

Toyota’s latest Innova uses a monocoque construction based on the New Global Architecture (TNGA). In the past, the MPV was built on a ladder frame chassis that was also used in the Hilux and Fortuner.
Instead of the previous generation’s longitudinally-mounted engine and rear-wheel drive layout, the new model features a transversely-mounted engine with front-wheel drive.
There is black body cladding on the wheel arches, lower portions of the doors, and the sides of the new Innova to give it an SUV-like appearance. The front end features a hexagonal grille, angular headlamps, and a slender lower intake all separated from one another by horizontal LED light strips mounted on a broad H-shaped panel.
In comparison with its predecessor, the new model has a more graceful interior design. Various elements of the dash are highlighted by contrasting trim colors, with the floating center console blending with the center stack serving as the focal point. This area includes the gear lever, digital climate controls, and center air vents, as well as an infotainment system with a touchscreen display. There is a separate console between the front seats for the cupholders, USB ports and armrest.
The latest Innova features a 10-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, digital AC controls, 10-inch screens for the second row, a new steering wheel with pedal shifters, an electronic parking brake and a digital MID.
With the new Zenix, there is more interior space than before, and the top-end variants come with captain chairs with ottomans in the second row. Furthermore, the MPV has a panoramic sunroof and voice-controlled tailgate.

Colour options for the new Innova Zenix includes Platinum White Pearl, Silver Metallic, Gray Metallic, Attitude Black, and DK Steel MC.
A hybrid powertrain is now available for the first time on the new Innova. The car is equipped with a Dynamic Force engine – the M20A-FXS 2.0 liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder – that produces 152 PS at 6000 rpm and 187 Nm of torque between 4400 and 5200 rpm.
An electric motor with 113 PS and 205 Nm is added for a total system output of 186 PS. The nickel-metal hydride (Ni-MH) battery was chosen to cope with Indonesia’s hot climate, and is kept under the front seats to free up space for cargo and rear passengers.
Besides the hybrid drivetrain, Indonesian Innova buyers can also choose the M20A-FKS 2.0-liter engine, which produces 174 PS at 6600 rpm and 205 Nm between 4500 and 4900 rpm. Both configurations include a CVT and produce more power and torque than the outgoing 1TR-FE 2.0 litre engine, which produces 139 PS and 183 Nm.
