Affordable, sustainable and compact pickup trucks seems to be the latest trend among auto makers. In the recent past we have seen models like the Hyundai Santa Cruz, Ford Maverick, Fiat Toro and RAM 1000.
Given that the Toro and RAM 1000 come from the same Stellantis group that also own Jeep, a brand known for its crossovers and fully off-road worthy SUVs it would make an ideal competitor to the other brands in this segment as well.
While Jeep does have a pickup in its product portfolio which is the Gladiator pickup truck based on the Wrangler SUV, a compact model based on the Jeep Compass would cater to a wider market.
Given that the Fiat Toro and RAM 1000 also utilize a similar platform as the Jeep Compass, the model could also achieve a competitive price due to parts sharing.
While Jeep has made no such plans of introducing a Jeep Compass pickup model, we have a digital rendering by automotive artist SRK Designs who has uploaded its making video on their YouTube channel.
As can be seen in the final image, the Jeep Compass Pickup stays similar to the regular SUV model uptil the rear from where it transforms into a truck with a cargo bed. The wheelbase also has been increased a bit and apart from that the truck receive some robust looking roof rails which could be used for adding a roof box or luggage carrier to increase its cargo carrying capacity.
Given that the Jeep Compass is already a very capable vehicle, the pickup version could also be used for some offroad adventures as well. The platform is capable of spawning more versions. Recently a 7-seater version of the Compass in India and has named it as the Jeep Meridian.
What do you think about the idea of making a Jeep Compass Pickup version? Would you buy one?
