Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has announced its much-awaited entry into the compact SUV segment in India with the all-new Toyota Urban Cruiser- Toyota’s youngest SUV.
The Toyota Urban Cruiser would endear itself to the discerning customers who are seeking more from a compact SUV. The company will launch the compact SUV in its India line-up during the festive season to cater to the growing demand for compact SUVs in India.
Commenting on the foray into the compact SUV segment, Mr. Naveen Soni, Senior Vice President, Sales and Services, TKM, said, “We are very excited to announce our plans to launch the Toyota Urban Cruiser this festive season. With a customer-first approach, TKM has always endeavoured to fulfil the aspirations of its customers with the timely introduction of new products and the Toyota Urban Cruiser is another such effort to satisfy the evolving customer needs. The Toyota Urban Cruiser is likely to be based on the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza the same way how the Toyota Glanza is based on the Maruti Suzuki Baleno. Basically, the Urban Cruiser will be a rebadged version of the Vitara Brezza. There will be minimal changes to the exterior as well as the interior. The only difference seen could be with the front grill and the badges.
This sharing of this car platform is a result of the collaboration between Toyota Motor Corporation and Suzuki Motor Corporation that was announced in 2018. Earlier this year we also saw the new Suzuki ACROSS for the European market which is based on the Toyota RAV4 SUV.
