The Altroz is the first vehicle from Tata Motors to be made on the all-new Agile Light Flexible Advanced (ALFA) architecture and the second vehicle to be developed under the Impact 2.0 design language. The hatchback was first showcased as the Tata 45X Concept at the Auto Expo 2018.
The production version was named as the Tata Altroz and was unveiled at the 89th Geneva International Motor Show (GIMS). The company also showcased the electric variant Tata Altroz EV which will make its debut in the near future.
The exterior design of the production version stays true to the concept vehicle shown at the motor show. The flagship hatchback of Tata Motors gets an athletic stance, sporty silhouette and sharp Laser cut lines which characterize the ALTROZ as a futuristic, ultra-modern, edgy and agile car.
It features a sharp grille design which is seamlessly integrated with the slim projector headlamps lending a sleek futuristic front look. The uniquely designed sharp front fog lamps and LED DRL are seamlessly integrated with the bumper. The premium looking piano black ORVMs with chrome accents adds to the elite character of Altroz.
Unique Laser-cut creases across the body panels add to the overall appeal of the car and lend an edgy & modern attitude. The 16-inch diamond-cut Alloys, and the sharp body lines and edgy bumpers provide an athletic and sporty stance to ALTROZ, for a commanding road presence
The signature large DLO (Diamond-shaped Day Light Opening) adds brightness to the interiors & offers a better view of the surroundings. Another signature design element of the Impact 2.0 design language is the Shooting Comet Line. This design line at the sides along with the window line gives ALTROZ a dynamic look even when the vehicle is stationary.
The hatchback features sleek & stylish C-pillar mounted rear door handles which gives it a sporty look. The new Tata ALTROZ sports black contrast roof which gives it a sporty attitude and adds to its sleek profile. Piano black accents at the rear lend a very premium, elegant and refined look to the ALTROZ which gel very nicely with the sleek tail lamps.

The hatchback will be available in 5 exterior colour options – High Street Gold, Midtown Grey, Downtown Red, Skyline Silver and Avenue White.
Cars from Tata Motors are known for their segment-leading interior space. The Altroz comes with a tastefully crafted premium, intelligent, modern and spacious interior as well. It features a floating Island Dashboard Layout with a classic satin finish. The dash gets Serene Blue Ambient light-surround which gives a nice look in the dark.
The Altroz also gets Leather Wrapped Steering Wheel & Gear Lever, a 7-inch touch screen infotainment system by Harman with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, a 7-inch TFT coloured digital instrument cluster which provides vital car-related information on the go conveniently and also displays turn by turn navigation. Cluster functions can be controlled through steering-mounted buttons.
The hatchback features a flat floor on the rear side which allows 3 occupants to sit comfortably on the rear seat. It also comes with 24 utility spaces which provide ample space to carry essentials while traveling.
At the time of the launch, the Tata Altroz will be launched with both petrol and diesel engines that will comply with the upcoming BS-VI norms. Both of them will be mated to a 5-speed gearbox. An automatic variant and a performance-focused model with a turbocharged petrol engine could be introduced in the future.
The Altroz petrol model is powered by the 1.2 L Revotron, 3-cylinder, naturally aspirated engine. It produces 86 PS @ 6000 rpm and 113 Nm @ 3300 rpm. The Altroz diesel variant comes with the 1.5 L Revotorq, 4-cylinder engine with Common Rail Turbo Intercooled. This motor makes 90 PS @ 4000 rpm and 200 Nm @ 1250-3000 rpm.
Other key features of the Altroz include Idle Stop-Start function (ISS), Cruise Control, 90-degree Opening Doors, Multi Drive Modes – Eco and City, Rain sensing wipers, Auto headlamps, Stylish wearable key for passive entry, Follow Me Home & Find Me function.
It further gets Engine Push Button Start Stop with smart key, Fully Automatic Climate Control, Rear AC vent with Rear Power Outlet, Front sliding armrest with storage, Rear seat armrest and15 litre Cooled Glove Box with illumination.
Safety-wise the Tata Altroz will come with Energy Absorbing Body Structure, Dual Airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking camera with dynamic guideway, Height adjustable front seatbelt with Crash Locking Tongue, Retractable Pretensioner Load limiter, ISOFIX Child Seat Tether Anchorage, Corner Stability Control, Immobiliser,Voice Alerts/ Warnings, Smart Rear Wiper & Washer, Rear Fog Lamp, Driver & Co-Driver Seatbelt Reminder, Anti-Glare IRVM, Perimetric Alarm System, Child safety lock on rear door and Collapsible Steering Column.
