Hyundai Motor India Ltd. has unveiled the all-new Hyundai Aura compact. It is the next-gen Hyundai Xcent and similar to the previous generation model it is based on the hatchback Grand i10 NIOS. The company claims that the new stylish sedan is set to be a trendsetter being the most power-packed and feature-rich sedan in its segment.
Hyundai Aura conveys a modern & stunning design, offering versatile characteristics exhibiting elegant styling and bold character form to deliver a fresh interpretation of Hyundai’s signature design language of ‘Sensuous Sportiness’.
The front profile showcases unique Twin Boomerang Daytime Running Lamps (DRL) integrated with Premium Satin Front Grille with Projector type Head Lamps & Fog Lamps. The side profile indicates unique sportiness through its coupe-like styling and luxurious volume and solid wheel-arches created by two unique character lines and 15-inch Diamond Cut Type Alloy Wheel.
The Hyundai Aura has a very distinctive rear design with an emphasis on wide stance, robust sporty bumper design and LED Tail Lamp with stylish 3-Dimensional Outer Lens. The trunk lid garnish of Chrome Strip with Glossy Black Wrap Around makes it look stylish.
The Aura measures 3,995 mm in length, 1,680 mm in width and 1,520 mm in height. The sedan has a wheelbase of 2,450 mm. It has a boot capacity of 402 litres.
The Hyundai Aura will be equipped with the BS-VI compliant 1.0 litre KAPPA T-GDI Petrol engine and a 1.2-litre ECOTORQ Diesel engine. The company also says that the new Aura sedan will come with 12 unique features in its segment along with best service warranty package for complete peace of mind.
The Kappa 1.0L T-GDI engine is developed by Hyundai Motor Group’s R&D division. This engine has a compact layout by integrating the exhaust manifold to the cylinder head thus improving the fuel efficiency at higher RPM ranges.
Developed by Hyundai R&D, the ECOTORQ Diesel BS-6 engine is cleaner-greener, powerful as well as a fuel-efficient engine. It consists of 2000 bar Fuel Injection System that allows better combustion and fuel efficiency. The crankshaft bearing with optimized thickness and material reduce friction allows excellent driving even in city conditions and enhances engine life.
The transmission has been subjected to rigorous durability tests for ensuring High Gear Strength and better Clutch Friction Materials to offer the best performance at high speeds, off-road, hillsides and harsh climatic conditions.
The 1.2L Kappa petrol engine produces 83 PS of power and 114 Nm of torque. The 1.2L ECOTORQ Diesel BS6 engine makes 75 PS of power and 190 Nm of torque. Both these engines will come with an option of a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT. The 1.0L Kappa GDI Turbo petrol engine makes 100 PS of power and 170 Nm of torque. This motor will be mated to a 5-sped gearbox only.
Hyundai Aura comes with an 8-inch Touch screen Infotainment with smartphone connectivity (Android Auto & Apple Car Play) along with Arkamys Premium Sound, a 5.3-inch Digital Speedometer & Multi-Information Display and Wireless Charging.
It also gets a Driving Rear View Monitor for Rearview display on the screen while driving forward, iBlue Audio remote smart Phone App, Outside Chrome Door Handle, Eco Coating, AirCurtain, Premium Cabin with Bronze Colour Inserts and spacious rear cabin.
Hyundai Aura is built on Strong Body Structure with integrated 65% Advanced High Strength Steel (AHSS+HSS) Application that ensures light bodyweight with high strength.
Its rigid structure is equipped with Advanced Ring Structure Application allowing increased Static & Dynamic Stiffness for Superior Safety, Low NVH and Superior Handling along with Advanced Safety System to provide the best Active and Passive safety for a stress-free driving and better crash energy absorption, due to dual-path structure.
The steering of the Aura sedan is fitted with Higher Capacity Motor for a quicker response with Increased Ratio for better feedback. The suspension Spring Stiffness is increased for Controlled Body Motion with Tuned Damper Valve for excellent round feel.
Hyundai Aura has been tested and evaluated across India over 7,500 km to assess its reliability and durability on different powertrain configurations and diverse road and climate conditions. Good Noise Isolation and Enhanced Sealing for Low NVH and silent cabin enhances driving pleasure.
