In its 21st year at the 89th Geneva International Motor Show (GIMS), Tata Motors has fulfilled its promise by bringing to life, concepts showcased in 2018. The company has unveiled the Buzzard concept (H7X or the Harrier 7-seater variant). Along with it, the company has also showcased the Buzzard Sport (Harrier), Altroz, Altroz EV and the H2X Concept.
As per Tata Motors, the name Buzzard selected for the prototype vehicle means – a majestic and fierece bird-of-prey, determined to provide and protect its family. It has to be noted that the ‘Buzzard’ is the product name coined for GIMS 2019 only. The christening of the production version of the vehicle in India will be announced closer to the commercial launch
The Buzzard, which is the 7 seater version of the Harrier, when launched will be the company’s flagship vehicle. The global SUV is the second vehicle, after the Harrier to be based on the ‘Optimal Modular Efficient Global Advanced’ (OMEGA) Architecture, which is derived from the legendary Land Rover D8 architecture and developed in collaboration with Jaguar Land Rover.
The Buzzard (H7X) is sculpted using the IMPACT Design 2.0 language. It measures 4661 mm in length, 1894 mm in width and 1786 in height. It has a wheelbase of 2741 mm.
Feature-wise, the Harrier 7 seater is expected to carry the same equipment. The powertrain options would very likely be the same but might get come with a higher output. Tata Motors could also provide an optional automatic transmission with the launch of this model, which could later be also introduced on the Harrier.
Tata Motors also showcased the Buzzard Sport Geneva Edition, which is nothing but the Harrier with a different set of alloy wheels. The vehicle is making its European debut at the Geneva Motor Show.
