Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (M&M) has launched its new compact SUV, the XUV300 (pronounced as XUV 3 double ‘Oh’). Mahindra’s latest attempt to crack the sub-4m SUV segment is priced at an ex-showroom starting price of INR. 7.90 Lakh.

Mahindra XUV300 Colour Options:
The compact SUV is available in 6 exterior colours – Pearl White, D sat Silver, Red Rage, Aquamarine, Sunburst Orange, Napoli Black. It is also available in two dual tone options – Red Rage with white roof and Aquamarine with white roof for the W8 variant with optional pack.
The new Mahindra XUV300 shares its platform with the SsangYong Tivoli which is a globally successful product. It has sold that has sold over 2.6 lakh units in 50+ countries since its launch in 2015. The Tivoli has also received multiple safety and ergonomic awards including a Grade 1 safety award from the 2015 KNCAP (Korean New Car Assessment Program), automotive safety test.
Engineers at Mahindra have reengineered the platform to suit the Indian conditions. The XUV300 get a higher ground clearance and a wider track. This has been achieved by modifying the suspension setup and wheel geometry. The outer shell was also redesigned to meet the sub-4m norms.
The XUV300 is avaialable with both petrol and diesel turbo-charged powertrains. Both also come mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. The company will soon launch an AMT variant as well. Both engines have been developed at the Mahindra Research Valley facility in Chennai, India.
The 1.5L turbo diesel engine with electronic variable geometry charger produces a power of 115 BHP and 300 Nm of torque. The 1.2L turbo petrol engine pumps out 110 BHP of power and 200 Nm of torque.
The Mahindra XUV300 is offered with Smart Steering System. This system provides 3 steering modes which allows the driver to customise the steering effort to suit his/her driving requirements. The SUV also comes with many first-in-segment features, which consists of 7 airbags including a knee airbag, dual-front, side and curtain airbags, disc brakes on all 4 wheels, front parking sensors, heated ORVMs and Dual-Zone Fully Automatic Temperature Control.
The new Mahindra XUV300 also comes with Electronic stability program with Dynamic Steering Torque, Hydraulic Brake Assist, Rollover Mitigation, Traction Control and Hill Start Assist. ABS and is standard across all variants. The SUV also comes with ISOFIX child seat mounts, Tyre-tronics (tyre pressure & temperature monitoring system), Seat belt reminder for all seats and 3-point seat belt on all seats.
The feature list doesn’t end there. The XUV300 also gets a 7-inch Touchscreen Infotainment system with GPS navigation, Apple Car Play & Android Auto, ECOSENSE Technology with social media connectivity, Micro Hybrid system, Push Button Start/Stop and Rear Parking Camera with dynamic assist & 3 park assist modes.
Further, it gets Steering-Mounted Phone & Audio Controls, Blue Sense APP with smart watch connectivity, Cruise control, Auto-dimming IRVM, Multi-colour configurable instrument cluster, Tyre position display and 17-inch diamond cut alloy wheels.
Other features include Projector Headlamps with Striking LED DRLs & Stylish LED Tail lamps, Electric sunroof with anti-pinch function, Premium grey leatherette upholstery, Leather-wrapped steering & gear knob, Dual-tone black & beige dashboard, Height-adjustable driver seat, 60:40 2nd row split seat and Height-adjustable front seat belts.
