Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest car manufacturer has launched the all-new WagonR in the country. The new Maruti Suzuki WagonR is now bigger and more powerful than before. It is available at a starting price of INR 4.19 Lakh (ex-showroom New Delhi).

The all-new WagonR is now based on the Heartect platform, which was introduced with the launch of the new Baleno. The new WagonR is now offered with two petrol engine options – the 1.0L K10 motor or the 1.2L K12M engine. The 1–litre engine will be available with the Lxi and Vxi variants while the 1.2-litre motor will be offered on the Vxi and Zxi trims.
Customers now also have a choice of a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed automated manual transmission (AMT) or as Maruti likes to call it Auto Gear Shift (AGS).
The 3-cylinder 1.0L engine produces 50 kW @ 5000 rpm and 90 Nm @ 3500 rpm while the 4-cylinder 1.2L motor generates 61 kW @ 6000 rpm and 113 Nm @ 4200 rpm. The 1.0L motor delivers an ARAI rated fuel efficiency of 22.5 kmpl and the 1.2L motor delivers 21.5 kmpl.
The third-generation WagonR is now bigger in every dimension. It measures 3655 mm in length, 1620 mm in width and 1675 mm in height. The wheelbase stands at 2435 mm and the tall boy hatchback has a turning radius of 4.7m.
Feature-wise, the new top-end variant of the Maruti Suzuki WagonR is equipped with Keyless entry, 7.0-inch Smartplya Studio touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, Steering-mounted control, Power folding and adjustable ORVMs with integrated turn indicators and Tachometer.
The car also comes with 14-inch steel wheels with wheel covers, Front and rear power windows, 60:40 split folding rear seats, Tilt adjustable steering, Rear defogger, washer and wiper and fog lamps.
Safety wise the new WagonR is equipped with Dual-front airbags and Seatbelt pre-tensioners and load limiters, ABS with EBD, Speed alert system, Door ajar warning, Seat-belt reminder and Speed-sensitive door locks.
2019 Maruti WagonR Colour Options:
The new WagonR is available in 6 exterior colour options – Superior White, Poolside Blue, Autumn Orange, Silky Silver, Nutmeg Brown and Magma Grey.
In terms of looks, the new WagonR still carries ahead tallboy design but now have more curves and cuts. It has been designed to appear a bit more muscular and to some extent has a resemblance to the new Ertiga and the Ignis as well.
The front fascia is now flatter looking. It features big headlamps and in between them is the slim grille with the chrome strip and the Suzuki logo. The bumper houses foglamps at the corners and gets a wide intake grille in the centre.
Moving towards the side, we see the new design language of Suzuki being followed here as well. It now gets a floating roof design and large tail lamps. The rear design is clean. There is a chrome applique above the number plate with WagonR lettering. The bumper gets a black cladding in the centre to reduce the visual bulk.
Inside, the new WagonR gets a dual tone interior finished in dark grey and beige. The seats and the side part of the dashboard are finished in the lighter shade. There are also silver trims around the AC vents and on the steering wheel.
