Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (M&M) has officially announced the name of its new flagship SUV as the Alturas. Based on the new Ssangyong Rexton, the Mahindra Alturas G4 will be launched on 24th November 2018.
The Mahindra Alturas G4 will be positioned in the INR 30 Lakh plus (ex-Showroom) price range segment. The 7-seater SUV will compete with the likes of Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, Isuzu MU-X, etc.
The new Mahindra Alturas G4 will be built at the company’s manufacturing facility at Chakan in Maharashtra. It was first showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo.
Power for the new Alturas SUV will come from the same 2.2-litre diesel engine that does duty on the Ssangyong Rexton as well. The India-spec motor will come mated to a Mercedes-Benz made 7-speed automatic transmission and produce 180.5 hp of power and 450 Nm of torque.
