The 2018 Maruti Suzuki Ertiga has been launched in India. The MPV comes at a starting price of INR 7.44 lakh (ex-showroom). It is available in L, V, Z and Z+ variants in both petrol and diesel engine options. The 7 seater vehicle also gets an optional automatic transmission in the petrol model.

The new Ertiga has grown in size. It measures 4395mm in length, 1735 mm in width and 1690mm in height. The ground clearance in 180 mm while the wheelbase is at 2740 mm which is same as the previous model. It has a boot space of 209-litres, which is expandable up to 803-litres by folding down the third-row seats.
In terms of looks, the new Ertiga seems to take some inspiration from the very popular Toyota Innova Crysta. The MPV gets a wide grille which sits between the twin-barrel projector headlamps along with a dynamic looking front bumper with integrated fog lamps and electrically foldable mirror with indicators.
The 7-seater MPV rides on 15-inch alloy wheels and it gets floating roof design treatment, something similar to what we have seen on the new Swift. The large L-shaped LED tail lamps give a distinct character to the rear of the new Ertiga.
Inside, the new Maruti Ertiga is now more spacious, thanks to the bigger dimensions. The beige interior also gets faux wooden trims which lend a bit of premium look to the cabin.
The top of the line trim is feature loaded and gets the 7-inch Smartplay touchscreen infotainment unit that supports MirrorLink, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and has inbuilt Navigation. The MPV also gets multi-function steering wheel reverse parking sensors with camera, push start stop button, Smart Keyless entry, Colour MID display along with automatic climate control, roof-mounted rear aircon vents and chilled cup holders.
Safety wise the new Maruti Ertiga comes equipped with ABS with EBD and Brake Assist dual front airbags, front seatbelt reminder (SBR) and ISOFIX child seat anchorage. The company also claims that the new generation model of the Ertiga is compliant with the frontal offset impact, side impact and pedestrian protection regulations for India.
Powering petrol version of the 2018 Maruti Ertiga is the new 1.5-litre K15B engine which was introduced with the new Ciaz. This engine produces 104.69 PS @ 6,000 rpm and a torque of 138 Nm @ 4,400 rpm.
The diesel Ertiga is powered by the same Fiat-derived 1.3-litre D13A diesel engine which did duty on the old Ertiga. This motor makes 89.73 PS @ 4,000 rpm and 200 Nm @ 1,750 rpm. Both the engines are coupled with a 5-speed manual transmission as standard. Additionally, the petrol engine is offered with a 4-speed automatic unit on select variants.
Maruti is also offering both the 1.5L petrol and the 1.3L diesel engines with the SHVS mild hybrid technology with a dual-battery setup in the petrol model. The petrol engine delivers an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of 19.34 km/l with the manual transmission and 18.69 km/l with the automatic transmission. The diesel Ertiga delivers 25.47 km/l.
