Tata Motors has launched the much-awaited Tata Tigor JTP which is a sporty version of Tata’s compact sedan or as they like to call it, the Styleback. Along with it, the company has also launched the Tata Tiago JTP hatchback model.
The Tata Tigor JTP is not just all show and no go. The company has put in efforts to make it look as well as drive like a performance oriented car by providing upgrades to its hardware.

The sporty version of the Tigor is priced at INR 7,49,000 Lakh (ex-showroom Delhi)
2018 Tata Tigor JTP Engine and Transmission:
The Tigor JTP is powered by a 1.2-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine which makes 114 PS @ 5,000 rpm and 150 Nm @ 1,800-4,500 rpm. This same motor also does duty on the Nexon compact SUV.
The engine is coupled with a 5-speed manual transmission similar to the regular variant but it tuned and gets to offer better acceleration by providing different gear ratio and final drive ratio. The compact sedan also get Sport and City drive modes.
The Tigor JTP can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 10.38 seconds. Engineers have also tuned the twin barrel exhaust system to offer a sporty note. The engine cover of this car gets JTP branding along with racetrack graphics, which adds a special touch to the engine bay.
2018 Tata Tigor JTP Suspension, Wheels and Brakes:
The new Tigor JTP gets rides on specially tuned suspension dampers. Engineers have worked hard to make sure this compact sedan it is planted on the road or track even when cornering at high speeds.
To improve the driving dynamics further, engineers have retuned the steering system and also lowered the car by 4 mm. The Tigor JTP has a ground clearance of 166 mm compared to the 170 mm of the regular model.
The 2018 Tigor JTP runs on wider tyres of size 185/60 which are shod on the 15-inch alloy wheels. The company says these offer better grip levels as compared to the normal model.
Brake setup hasn’t been upgraded and is same as the regular Tigor. Engineers at Tata Motors do claim that due to the updated tyres and the tuned suspension, the braking distance has reduced.
2018 Tata Tigor JTP Exterior and Interior:
The designers at Tata Motors have provided the Tigor JTP with its own distinct look. The performance oriented sedan gets newly designed front and rear bumpers, side skirts, projector headlamps with chrome inserts and new front grill with JTP badging. The car also gets a hood vent, faux fender vents with JTP badge, machined alloy wheels, twin exhaust tips in chrome and JTP badge at the rear.
The Tigor JTP also gets gloss black roof, black finished applique over the number plate, roof spoiler in black and contrasting ORVMs. The tail lamps are similar to the one available on the newly launched Tigor refresh model.
Inside, the new Tigor JTP comes with an all-black interior with red accents on AC vents. The leather-wrapped steering wheel also gets contrast red stitching. The seats are wrapped in black fabric and get contrasting stitching along with a red hexagonal pattern as seen on the front grills. The performance sedan also gets aluminium pedals to compliment its sporty looks.
2018 Tata Tigor JTP Features:
Feature-wise, the new JTP version of the Tigor gets all of bells and whistle available on the top-spec variants. Dual airbags and ABS with corner stability control are offered as standard.

The new Tigor JTP is available in two dual tone paint schemes which include Pearlescent White with red ORVMs and glossy black roof & Berry Red with glossy black roof and ORVMs.
