Skoda Auto India has launched the Rapid Onyx Edition in the country. The new variant comes with cosmetic changes to its exterior as well as the interior to make it look sportier. The Rapid Onyx is priced from an ex-showroom price of INR 9.75 Lakh nationwide. It will be available in two colour options – Lapiz Blue and Candy White.

The new Skoda Rapid Onyx sports the crystalline appearance synonymous with the brand’s signature design language. It gets Black design elements which underline the sedan’s assertive and dynamic appearance.
The black facade of the Skoda Signature Grille is complemented by its chrome surround. It dons glossy black 16-inch Clubber alloy wheels with identical bolt covers, glossy black exterior mirrors, glossy black decor on the B pillars, as well as black body side moulding and trunk lip garnish.
The interior of the Rapid Onyx comes with contrasting dual-tone Ebony-Sand interiors, featuring premium perforated beige with wood design leatherette upholstery. The SuperSport Flat Bottom leather-wrapped steering wheel comes with black stitching and there is an abundant use of Chrome decor inside. The car also comes with textile mats featuring premium black stitching.
The Skoda Rapid Onyx Edition features the state-of-the-art 6.5-inch Colour Touchscreen Central Infotainment System with SmartLink technology. It also gets USB/Aux-in/Bluetooth support and is compatible with MirrorLink, Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
Other features include Climatronic technology along with adjustable dual rear AC vents, 12 V power socket in front and rear center console, black waste bin for the front door pocket, scuff plates with ‘RAPID’ inscription and rear windscreen sunblind make the Rapid Onyx even more compelling.
Additionally, it also gets height and length adjustable multifunction steering wheel, adjustable headrests, foldable armrests, central locking system with remote control, multi-functional display, height adjustable driver and front passenger seats and storage pockets on the back of the front seats.
Safety features such as like Dual Airbags and ABS come as standard. The sedan also comes five three-point seatbelts and two airbags. In addition, ESC (Electronic Stability Control) is available in AT diesel variant and Hill Hold Control (HHC) is available in both AT Petrol and AT Diesel variants. A host of supporting functions includes the new Anti-Theft alarm, Parktronic rear parking sensors, anti-glare rearview mirror, and one-touch up windows. The Rapid Onyx also gets Projector Lens Quartz-cut headlights, with white bulbs for headlamps, along with LED Daytime Running Lights.
The Skoda Rapid Onyx is offered with 1.5L TDI diesel engine and the 1.6L MPI petrol engine options. Both come with a choice of either a manual or automatic transmission. The 1.5-litre TDI motor produces 110PS (81kW) of power and a torque output of 250 Nm. It delivers a fuel efficiency of 21.72 kmpl (DSG) and 21.13 kmpl (MT).
The 1.6L-litre MPI or Multi-Point Injection engine with 16 valves Dual Over-Head Camshaft (DOHC), delivers 105 PS (77kW) of power and a peak torque output of 153Nm while delivering fuel efficiency figures of 15.41 kmpl (MT) and 14.84 kmpl (AT).
