Maruti Suzuki India Limited has launched its premium sedan Ciaz, in a new avatar. The facelifted Maruti Suzuki Ciaz is now offered with the new 1.5 litre K15 petrol engine. Also making its debut with the new Ciaz is the next generation smart hybrid technology with Lithium-ion battery. The sedan will retail exclusively through Maruti’s premium NEXA outlet

Maruti Suzuki claims that the new Ciaz is India’s first Smart Hybrid Vehicle. The new Lithium-ion battery which it comes with is compact, designed for longer service life and contributes to improved fuel efficiency. The new generation Dual battery system comes with features such as Idle Start Stop, Torque Assist Function and Brake Energy Regeneration.
The Maruti sedan now comes powered by the new 1.5-litre K15 petrol engine which replaces the K14B 1.4-litre petrol engine in the last gen model. The new engine produces a power output of 104.7 PS @ 6000 rpm and a torque of 138 Nm @ 4400 rpm. This motor is either coupled to a 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed automatic transmission.
For customers looking out for a diesel model. Maruti will continue to sell the new Ciaz with the 1.3-litre DDiS Smart Hybrid diesel engine option, unlike earlier reports which suggested that the Ciaz diesel model could be discontinued. Maruti Suzuki might later upgrade the diesel variant with a new 1.5L unit in the future as well.
Even the bigger engine the new Maruti Ciaz delivers class-leading fuel efficiency of 21.56 km/l in manual petrol variants and 20.28 km/l in automatic petrol models. The diesel variants continue to deliver a fuel economy of 28.09 km/l.
Maruti Suzuki designers have also given a refreshed look to the new Ciaz to make it look more premium. The car now gets a sharp front fascia with a new grille and a redesigned bumper. It also gets new LED Projector Auto headlamps with DRLs and LED Fog Lamps.
The new Ciaz also gets 16-inch precision cut alloy wheels in dual tone Metallic Pebble Grey Finish and new LED Combination tail lamps. There is also a generous use of chrome Bezels on front and rear fascia to give it a premium look.
Inside, the Ciaz facelift model now comes with new Birch blonde wood grain accents with a low gloss finish, Satin chrome highlights on dashboard and door trims. It also gets a new 4.2-inch Multi-information coloured TFT display similar to the one on the Maruti Baleno. It also gets Eco illumination in the speedometer which dynamically changes colour based on the driving pattern.
Safety wise, the new Ciaz is equipped with High-speed warning alert, Reverse parking sensors, Driver and Passenger seat belt reminder alert, ISOFIX child seat restraint system, Dual Airbags, ABS with EBD are standard. Electronic stability program (ESP) with Hill Hold function comes standard in Automatic variants.
Other key features available on the top-end model include Cruise Control, Auto headlamp, Auto –headlamp levelling, 7-inch Smartplay touchscreen infotainment system with Navigation and Android Auto & Apple CarPlay connectivity. It also gets electrically adjustable and retractable outside rearview mirrors, Smart Key entry with Start/Stop Button and fully automatic climate control.
