Porsche India has launched the 911 GT2 RS in the country. The sports car is available at a price of INR 3.88 Crore (ex-showroom).
The Porsche 911 GT2 RS had made its world debut at the 2017 Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK. Porsche had claimed that it is the fastest and most powerful street-legal 911 model ever made.
The Porsche 911 GT2 RS is powered by a 911 Turbo S model derived 3.8-liter, twin-turbo flat-six engine. This motor has been modified to extract more power. It is equipped with larger turbochargers and a new additional cooling system. It produces 700-horsepower and 750 Nm (553 lb-ft) of torque. The 911 GT2 RS can accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 2.8 seconds and can reach a top track speed of 340 km/h (211 mph).
Power from the engine is transferred to the wheels via a customised GT seven-speed double-clutch Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) transmission. The performance vehicle also gets a lightweight titanium exhaust system that has been specially developed for the 911 GT2 RS.
The 2018 Porsche 911 GT2 RS weighs 1470 kg with a full tank of fuel. This weight can be further reduced by nearly 30 kg by opting for the Weissach package which also improves the vehicle’s dynamics.
The package includes magnesium wheels and various elements that are made of carbon fibre such as the roof, anti-roll bars and end links on both axles. The forged magnesium wheels reduce both overall and unsprung weight complementing the vehicle’s handling characteristics.
The Porsche 911 GT2 RS with the Weissach Package gets a very distinctive look. The carbon fibre weave of the luggage compartment lid and the roof are left largely exposed and carry a racing stripe in the center in the same colour as that of the body.
The interior of the 911 GT2 RS carries the same sporty theme as the exterior. There is extensive use of red Alcantara on the roof lining, steering wheel grip, centre armrests, seat base and the door trims. It gets full bucket seats which are finished in black leather and come with carbon fibre reinforced backrests. Carbon fibre trim pieces across the interior come as standard on this special edition,.
The Porsche 911 GT2 RS also comes with Sport steering wheel with shift paddles. It gets the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) which serves as the central control unit for audio, navigation, and communication. Porsche Connect Plus and the Porsche Track Precision app are also included as standard.
Additionally, customers can opt for the optional Chrono Package which expands the PCM functions to include a performance display, which can be utilised to display, save, and evaluate lap times. Also included in the package is a stopwatch on the dashboard featuring an analogue and digital display. The Chrono Package on the 2018 Porsche 911 GT2 RS also provides preparation for the lap trigger available from Porsche Tequipment.
The owners of this special sports car will also get the exclusive 911 GT2 RS Chronograph watch which has been co-developed by Porsche Design and Porsche Motorsport. The car and watch are produced and customised individually and according to the customer’s preferences.
