Suzuki Motor Corporation has finally revealed the all-new Suzuki Jimny. The Japanese automaker has shared official images of the fourth generation Jimny which will be making its debut in July.
The SUV will be offered in two variants Suzuki Jimny and Suzuki Jimny Sierra. The two-door, body-on-frame SUV gets a no-frills design. It is boxy, looks functional and has an old school charm to it. The Jimny features the signature vertical slat front grille in a black finish which also houses the round headlamps and indicators. The front bumper is also finished in black and houses circular fog lamps.
At the rear, it gets black bumpers and a tailgate-mounted spare wheel. The tail lamps are positioned on the rear bumper, giving the body a clean look and allowing for a bigger tailgate. There is also a high positioned stop lamp and an antenna at the rear.
Inside, the Jimny gets a simple interior layout which goes with the rugged characteristics of the car. There is the use of circular as well as rectangular shapes around the cabin. The interior seems to use many parts from cars like the new Swift and Ignis. It is finished in an all-black look and also gets the Suzuki Smartplay infotainment system which comes with inbuilt Navigation.
2018 Suzuki Jimny Variants & Grades:
The all-new Jimny will be available in three grades – XG, XL and XC. The base variant XG features dual front airbags for driver and passenger, curtain and front seat side airbags. It also gets halogen headlamps, fog lamps, manual AC, two speakers and comes with 16-inch steel wheels.
The Suzuki Jimny XL gets automatic AC, keyless entry and engine start/stop button. It also comes fitted with electrically retractable and smoked glass. The XC is the top of the line variant. This model comes LED headlamps, headlamp washer, LED turn indicators on ORVM and 16-inch alloy wheels. This model of the SUV also gets dual sensor brake support and cruise control.
The Jimny Sierra variant is offered in two grades – JL and JC. The Suzuki Jimny Sierra JL model gets multi-reflector halogen fog lamps, smoked glass, automatic AC, engine start/stop button, keyless entry, 15-inch steel wheels and electrically retractable ORVMs. In addition to these, the JC grade gets LED headlights, headlight washer, ORVMs with LED indicator, 15-inch aluminium wheels, cruise control and dual sensor brake support.
2018 Suzuki Jimny Engine and Transmission Options:
The 2018 Suzuki Jimny will be offered with a 660 cc petrol engine in Japan. It will be paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission. There is will be a part-time 4 Wheel Drive on offer as well.
The new Suzuki Jimny Sierra will be powered by a 1500 cc petrol engine. This motor will also be coupled to either a 5-speed MT or a 4-speed AT. 4WD will be standard for this model.
More technical details and specifications will be revealed closer to the launch which is expected to happen in July 2018.
2018 Suzuki Jimny Colour Options:
The 2018 Suzuki Jimny will be offered in single tone as well as dual tone colours. The Single-tone colour options include Jungle Green, Bluish Black Pearl 3, Medium Gray, Silky Silver Metallic, and Superior White.
Two-tone colour options include Kinetic Yellow, Brisk Blue Metallic, and Chiffon Ivory Metallic which get a black roof. Additionally, the Jimny will also be offered in a Pure White Pearl Shade and a two-tone Kinetic Yellow with black roof and bonnet in Japan.
