Recently, Royal Enfield had unveiled the limited Classic 500 Pegasus Edition in the UK. The company has now launched the Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus Edition motorcycle in India and has priced it at INR 2.40 Lakh (ex-showroom).
Only a 1000 units of the Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus Edition will be made for global consumption out of which just 250 models have been allocated for the Indian market. Customers will be able to book the limited edition motorcycle via the company’s website a ‘first come first serve’ basis.
The Classic 500 Pegasus Edition is available in two colours – Service Brown and Olive Drab Green but only the Service Brown colour option will be available for sale in India. The motorcycle has been produced as a homage to the RE/WD 125 motorcycle which was used during the World War II.
The RE/WD 125 was more fondly recalled as ‘The Flying Flea’ by the men who rode it as the 125cc motorcycle deployed behind enemy lines via parachutes and onboard the Horsa Glider to provide communications support and carrying soldiers into battle.
Each of the 1000 individual Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus Edition motorcycles will carry a unique serial number which will be stencilled on the fuel tank, reminiscent of the War Department motorcycles that served during World War II. The bikes will also get the ‘Pegasus’ insignia and military-style canvas saddle bags.
The limited edition motorcycle will also get with the famous Royal Enfield ‘Made Like a Gun’ decal on the battery box. Other unique touches include brown handlebar grips, a leather strap with brass buckles across the air filter, blacked out silencers, rims, kickstart, pedals and headlight bezel to complete the period look.
Power for the Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus Edition will be provided by the 499 cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine. This motor produces 27.6 hp @ 5250 rpm and 41.3 Nm of torque @ 4000rpm. Customers of this limited edition bike can also buy a range of Genuine Motorcycle Accessories that are compatible with the motorcycle.
