Pre-booking for the all-new Volvo XC40 SUV begins in India

Volvo Car India is gearing up for the launch of its all-new entry luxury SUV, the Volvo XC40. After winning the European car of the year, it will soon be available in India. The company expects all of its first lot of 200 units to be pre-booked before the launch.

The SUV promises to bring freshness in the segment with a host of features unique to the XC40. Customers can reach out to our dealers to pre-book their Volvo XC40. Bookings can be secured at the dealerships before launch at INR 5,00,000 as a deposit.

The Volvo XC40 is the first model built on the new Common Modular Architecture (CMA) platform which it developed with Geely. It is positioned below the recently introduced new Volvo XC60 and will borrow a host of features from both the XC60 and the bigger Volvo XC90.

While the Volvo XC40 is offered with various engine configurations globally, it will be offered with only a single engine option in India which is the 190 hp D4 engine. This motor develops 400 Nm of torque and is mated with to an all-wheel drive and an 8-speed automatic transmission as standard.

The 5-seater SUV will be available in the R-Design version only. The new Volvo XC40 R-Design variant comes a host of sporty touches, including a gloss black front grille and front and rear lower bumper sections, a black roof and door mirrors, and dual integrated exhaust pipes.

The SUV also gets uprated sports suspension along with 18-inch diamond cut/matt black alloy wheels. It will be available in a choice of three exterior colours – Bursting Blue, Crystal White and Fusion Red. Inside, the XC40 R-Design gets leather/nubuck upholstery, front seat cushion extensions, a perforated leather steering wheel and gear knob, and aluminium dashboard inlays.

Safety and driver assistance features on the XC40 include Volvo Cars’ Pilot Assist system, City Safety, Run-off-Road protection, Oncoming Lane Mitigation, Cross Traffic alert with brake support and the 360° Camera that helps drivers manoeuvre their car into tight parking spaces.

The ground-breaking Volvo On Call smartphone app and emergency assistance package is also fitted to every Volvo XC40. Also standard are LED headlights, active bending lights, dual-zone climate control with Volvo’s sophisticated ‘CleanZone’ air-filtration system, a 12.3-inch active TFT configurable driver’s information display and rear parking sensors.

Other desirable options include Sensus 9-inch touch screen with sat-nav which includes real-time traffic information (RTTI) and lifetime map updates and three USB sockets, panoramic sunroof, wireless mobile phone charging, Smartphone Integration which includes Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, keyless entry and engine start, power operated tailgate and a Harman Kardon sound system that combines 13 speakers, advanced sound-processing software and an output of 1200 W.
