MINI has launched the second generation Countryman in India. This is the biggest MINI ever built and it will be locally assembled at BMW’s plant in Chennai.

The new MINI Countryman will be available in three variants – Cooper S, Cooper SD, and Cooper S JCW Inspired. The MINI Countryman Cooper S and Cooper S JCW Inspired models are powered by the 1998 cc 4-cylinder petrol engine which produces 189 bhp of power and 280 Nm of torque. The Cooper S variant comes equipped with an 8-speed Automatic Steptronic Transmission while the JCW variant gets an 8-speed Sport Automatic Steptronic Transmission.
The MINI Countryman Cooper SD model gets its power from a 1995 cc 4-cylinder engine developing which churns out 188 bhp of power and generates 400 Nm of torque. This motor is paired with an 8-speed Automatic Steptronic Transmission.
The new MINI Countryman is some 200 mm longer than its predecessor and approximately 30 mm wider. Its wheelbase has been extended by 750 mm. It features design elements that are typical of the brand, including the clear three-way structure of the side view as well as the short overhangs, large wheel arches and downward increase in width.
Feature wise the new Countryman is equipped with Satellite Navigation System, Cruise Control, Bluetooth, Emergency E-call and Active Guard among others. The new MINI Countryman Cooper S JCW Inspired variant gets the John Cooper Works aerodynamic kit, rear roof spoiler and 18-inch JCW thrill spoke alloy wheels.
It is also equipped with features like ‘Leather Cross Punch’ Sport Seats, Harmon Kardon Hi-Fi Speaker System, and MINI Find Mate. It is also offered with a new optional 8.8-inch touchscreen display as part of the MINI Navigation System XL bringing touchscreen multimedia and navigation control for the first time in a MINI.
