BMW has launched the third generation of its mid-size SAV in India. The 2018 BMW X3 is available at a starting price of INR 49.99 Lakh. Currently, the X3 is available only with a diesel engine and in two variants – Expedition and Luxury Line. A petrol variant is also expected to be launched later this year.

Powering the third-generation X3 is the BMW TwinPower Turbo 2.0-litre diesel engine. The xDrive20d engine produces 190 hp at 4000 rpm and 400 Nm of torque at 1750-2500 rpm. The SAV is available with the 8-speed Steptronic automatic transmission and the xDrive AWD system as standard. The car is available with three drive modes – EcoPro, Comfort and Sport.
The new BMW X3 comes with Active Air Stream Kidney Grille and an automatic start-stop function as standard and has a claimed fuel economy of 16.04 kmpl. The SUV will be available in four exterior colours – Mineral White, Sophisto Grey, Black Sapphire and Phytonic Blue.
The BMW X3 Expedition trim features LED headlights, iDrive with a 6.5-inch colour central display, 3-zone automatic climate control, leather-wrapped steering wheel, electrically adjustable front seats with memory function for the driver, front and rear parking sensors, rear-view camera and panoramic glass roof.
The X3 Expedition model is equipped with 18-inch turbine style 689 alloy wheels, black high gloss interior trim with Pearl Chrome highlights and Canberra Beige/Black or Black/Black leatherette upholstery.
The Luxury Line variant gets features like adaptive LED headlights including accent lighting with turn indicators and hexagonally shaped LED DRL, LED tail lights, LED fog lights. It also gets BMW Display Key, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation with 3D maps and Apple CarPlay connectivity.
Other features on the X3 Luxury Line grade includes iDrive Touch with handwriting recognition and 12.3-inch virtual instrument cluster. It also comes Paddle shifters, Dynamic Damper Control and Performance Control torque vectoring system.
The 2018 BMW X3 Luxury Line model comes with 19-inch Double-spoke style 696 alloy wheels, fine-wood interior trim poplar grain with Pearl Chrome highlights, Vernasca Canberra Beige or Vernasca Mocha black leather upholstery with decorative stitching and features Sensatec instrument panel as well.
