UM Lohia Two Wheelers Pvt Ltd has launched three new motorcycles at the Auto Expo 2018. The new product line up consist of the Renegade Thor, along with the Renegade Duty S and the Renegade Duty Ace.
The UM Renegade Thor was launched at a price of INR 4.9 Lakh onwards, is also claimed to be the world’s first geared electric cruiser. The Renegade Thor uses an asynchronous three-phase induction motor which produces an impressive 30Kw of power along with 70Nm of torque.
It is equipped with a 5-speed transmission gearbox, with a hydraulic clutch and a liquid cooled motor with a controller. The Renegade Thor also comes equipped with reverse gear allowing for easy manoeuvrings.
The Renegade Thor gets 41 mm front telescopic fork and twin adjustable shocks for the rear. It runs on a 17-inch wheel fitted with 120/80 size tyre at the front and a 15-inch wheel with 150/90 size tyre at the rear.
Stopping power for the Thor comes from a 280 mm disc brake with Brembo master cylinder and Dual channel ABS at the front and a 240 mm disc brake at the rear. It also gets a built-in board charger and fast charger compatible with level 1,2 and 3 electric car chargers. Using a fast charger, 80% of the battery can be charged in just 40 minutes.
The UM Renegade Duty S and the Renegade Duty Ace are priced starting INR 1.10 Lakh onwards. Both these bikes are powered by a 223 cc single cylinder four- stroke oil cooled engine that develops 17 PS of power at 8000 rpm and 17 Nm of torque. This motor is engine mated to a 5-speed gearbox.
The Duty S and Duty Ace are equipped with a 280mm disc brake at the front and a130mm drum brake at the rear. It also gets 41 mm hydraulic telescopic for the front suspension and Twin Hydraulic with spring suspension at the rear. The bikes ride on a 17-inch wheel at the front and 15-inch at the rear. The Duty S has a kerb weight of 142 kg while the Duty Ace weighs 140 kg.

I understand the need to go electric but the bikes I’ve seen so far just aren’t appealing to look at.
