Maruti Suzuki has ended the production of the current model of its very popular hatchback the Maruti Swift. The last unit of the second generation Swift rolled off the production line on December 23, 2017.
The Maruti Swift was first launched in India in 2005 and since then has sold more than 1.7 million units. The company expects the new Swift to continue on this success journey and be a game-changer in its segment which will further help Maruti Suzuki strengthen its market share in India.

The new Swift will be powered by same engines that were available on the current model which include the 1.2-litre K-Series petrol engine and the 1.3-litre DDiS diesel motor. The new Swift will also come equipped with front airbag as standard and will get the Auto Gear Shift (AGS) or Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) gearbox as an option.
The company is now gearing towards producing the third-generation Swift which could be showcased at the upcoming 2018 Auto Expo. Pre-production units have already been spotted being filmed for its TV commercial. Media activities related to the car should start soon.
