Yamaha is celebrating 10 years of the iconic FZ series in India. To mark this occasion the Japanese motorcycle manufacturer has launched the new Yamaha FZS-FI equipped with a rear disc brake. The bike also receives an all-new Armada Blue colour scheme and is priced at Rs. 86,042 /- (ex-showroom Delhi).
The new Yamaha FZS-FI motorcycle will be manufactured by IYM (India Yamaha Motor Pvt. Ltd.) and marketed by YMIS (Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd.). It will be available for sale across all authorized Yamaha dealers in the country.
Speaking on the launch, Mr. Roy Kurian, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd. said, “The legacy of Yamaha’s FZ series in India is all about the inheritance of a unique motorcycling passion. Immensely popular with Indian bikers all the way through almost 10 years from the day it was launched in India, and winning over a million hearts, it was crowned to become the ‘lord of the streets’ by the collective culture of the country’s motorcycling. While its best seller features like build and appearance, superior engine technology, fuel mileage and suspension are retained, the new additions will excite the present and new customers.”
Apart from the inclusion of the rear disc brake, the Yamaha FZS-FI stays mechanically identical. It continues to be powered by the same 149 cc, air cooled, fuel injected, 4-stroke, SOHC, 2-valve, single cylinder engine. This motor is coupled to a 5-speed gearbox and produces 13.2hp and 12.8Nm of torque.
At the front, the bike comes with a 282 mm disc brake and the rear now gets a 220 mm hydraulic single disc brake. ABS is not offered yet on the Yamaha FZS-FI. Suspension duty is carried out by telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock setup at the rear.
The Yamaha FZ series has been known for its macho image. Yamaha adopted the “Triple Muscular Concept” – Muscular silhouette, Muscular Body parts and Muscular Chassis for the FZ. The all-new FZS-FI motorcycle is a response to the needs and requirements of Yamaha’s customers, prioritising performance efficiency and safety. The key features of the Yamaha FZS include advance midship muffler, skid-free split seat, multi-function instrument panel with Eco indicator.
