KTM has further sharpened its Street Supersport RC 390 portfolio with the introduction of the new KTM RC 390 R. Only 500 units of this race-ready edition will be made. It has been priced at EUR 8,500 (approx. INR 6.69 lakhs), inclusive of German VAT.
The limited edition KTM RC 390 R is homologated and takes inspiration from the new Supersport 300 category racing and also comes with new high-quality graphics. The KTM RC 390 R is armed with a series of hardware upgrades to suit extreme track riding use. It features tailor-made fully adjustable WP suspension at the front and back. These provide high levels of adjustment to perfectly set-up the bike for both rider and riding conditions.
Engineers have focused on making the bike more race ready than for all-day comfort. It gets a new top yoke and handlebar kit allowing a more extreme racing style handlebar position which is adjustable for riders of all sizes. Its machined construction provides precision, strength and weight saving.
The KTM RC 390 R is also fitted with CNC milled, foldable brake and clutch levers which provide increased feedback at fingers and are designed to flick-up in the case of a spill. Other changes include a shorter intake trumpet to increase the overall efficiency of the motorcycle in race conditions and to create an engine characteristic with a slightly wider power band.
The KTM RC 390 R can further be made ready for Supersport 300 competition when combined with the optional and dedicated SSP300 Race Kit. The additional SSP 300 Race Kit contains more than 230 individual parts and is limited to just 50 kits per year directly through KTM Customer Racing.
The new SSP 300 Race Kit is made specifically for the new R model and is not compatible with existing KTM RC 390 CUP motorcycles or any RC specification before 2017. This kit gives motorsport teams the ability to make and maintain the homologated version into a dedicated Supersport 300 contender.
