Hero MotoCorp, the world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer has added another motorcycle to its portfolio. The company has unveiled the new Hero Xtreme 200R in India. The ‘R’ here stands for ‘Roadster’.
The new Hero MotoCorp motorcycle is based on the Hero Xtreme 200S concept which was showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo. Bookings are open but pricing will be revealed closer to the launch in April 2018. It is expected to have an ex-showroom price of less than INR 1 Lakh.
The Hero MotoCorp Xtreme 200R is powered by an all-new BS-IV compliant 199.6 cc single cylinder air cooled engine which produces 18.4 PS of power at 8,000 rpm, and 17.1 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. This engine is coupled to a 5-speed transmission. The bike has a claimed fuel efficiency of 39.9 km/l (as per WMTC norm). The bike can accelerate from 0 to 60 km/h in 4.6s seconds only and reaches a top speed of 114 km/h.
Engineers have also worked on improving the sound of the bike. The intake noise was reduced by putting a resonator in the intake channel. The exhaust note has also been tuned to sound in line with the performance characteristic of the bike.
The Hero Xtreme 200R is built with a diamond type frame and rides on 17-inch alloy wheels which are wrapped with MRF made 100-section and 130-section radial tires at front and rear respectively.
Suspension duty is carried out by 37 mm front telescopic forks with anti-friction bush and a 7-step adjustable rear monoshock. Braking power is supplied from a 276 mm front disc which also comes with an optional single-channel ABS. The rear gets a 220 mm disc brake setup.
Other features of the Hero Xtreme 200R include aggressive tank shrouds, halogen headlight with Wolf Eyed LED pilot lamps and LED tail light. It also gets a sporty digi-analogue information cluster, newly designed contoured seat and sporty looking split grab rails.
The new motorcycle has been designed and developed by Hero MotoCorp’s in-house R&D team, based at the Hero Centre of Innovation and Technology in Jaipur.

The new Xtreme 200R is the perfect amalgamation of performance, advance technology and masculine attributes. We also have a strong pipeline of new products for the rest of the year,” said Markus Braunsperger, Chief Technology Officer, Hero MotoCorp.

The bike is available in five sporty dual-tone colour schemes – Sports Red, Panther Black with cool Silver, Panther Black with Red, Charcoal Grey with Orange, and Techno Blue.
