The new model is basically an adventurous version of the Datsun Go+ and adopts several features and styling elements from the concept vehicle to make it look aggressive and ready for some action.
The Datsun Cross features an eagle eye looking halogen projector headlamp with LED DRL. The fog lamps sit higher next to the hexagonal grille with a chrome border and honeycomb inserts. The MPV also gets body protection cladding in a dark metallic gray finish along with metal-like inserts for the front bumper, side skirt and the rear bumper to give it a rugged look.
The adventure version of the Datsun Go+ rides on 15-inch alloy wheels. It also gets electrically operated outside rear view mirror with turn indicators, roof rails and a sporty looking roof spoiler with a stop light.
Inside, the Datsun Cross features an all-black look. The dashboard design is different from that of the Datsun Go and Go+. Sleek air vents are present on the top portion while below it the centre console features a 6.75-inch touchscreen infotainment system underneath which are the AC controls. This area is surrounded by a metallic silver finish in a shape that is similar to the front grille.
The 2018 Datsun Cross MPV is powered by a 1198cc, 3-cylinder, petrol engine. It is offered in two power configurations. The first option comes with a 5-speed manual transmission and produces 68 PS at 5000 rpm and 104 Nm of torque at 4000 rpm. The second option comes fitted with an X-Tronic Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) and produces 78 PS at 6000 rpm and 104 Nm of torque at 4400 rpm.
The Datsun Cross is also higher than the Go+ MPV by 30mm and has a ground clearance of 200 mm. It also features Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC), Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) and Dual Airbags for front passengers. It also gets Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) with brake assist, Traction Control (TCS) and Brake-Limited Slip Differential (B-LSD).
The Cross MPV will be produced at the Nissan and Datsun plant in Purwakarta, West Java. The first deliveries are expected to begin by March 2018.
