After revealing its all-new 650cc Parallel Twin engine, Royal Enfield has unveiled the two bikes that will be powered by it. The new Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 both were unveiled at the 2017 EICMA or Milan Motorcycle Show.
The Heritage-inspired Twins carry the Royal Enfield legacy and character into the 21st century. The original Interceptor was developed in the ‘60s and was designed to impress the customers in US market, especially California where the motorcycle was exported. The Continental GT has its roots from the café racer scene from England during the ‘50s and ‘60s period and was said to be one of the first factory-made café racer motorcycles one could buy at that time.
The Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 Twin and the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 Twin both are powered by the all-new 650cc Parallel Twin engine. This motor has been styled to look old-school but underneath that vintage shell is a modern piece of engineering. It is said to be Royal Enfield’s most forward-looking engine with fewer components, less weight and easier maintenance.

The bikes are designed and engineered to be accessible to customers all over the world. Both the Twins have been extensively road-tested in India and UK and also at the Idiada track in Spain.
And that is not all, Royal Enfield has also come up with a range of accessories and merchandising for the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 Twin and the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 Twin. The design and validation of these accessories were done along with the motorcycles.
