BMW Motorrad India has launched the new BMW K 1600 B at the 2017 India Bike Week (IBW 2017). The touring motorcycle will arrive in the country via the CBU route and the deliveries are expected to start by December 2017.
The BMW K 1600 B is the production version of the Concept 101 which was showcased at the 2015 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este. This bike is BMW Motorrad’s interpretation of motorcycling on endless highways and the embodiment of “Grand American Touring”.
The BMW K 1600 B takes the form of a bagger which is a custom bike type that is popular in the USA. The bike is based on the BMW K 1600 GT and gets a characteristic bagger drop-shaped silhouette by implementing a completely reconstructed rear section.
The Tourer also features deep-set side cases with integrated US American style rear lights and fully chrome-plated silencers which run parallel to the road and enhance the visual appeal of the bagger.
The new K 1600 B is powered by a 6-cylinder In-Line Engine which develops 160 PS of power and 175 Nm of torque. This motor is coupled to the 6-speed gearbox which transfers the power to rear wheel via a shaft drive.
The bagger motorcycle features electronically controlled Dynamic ESA chassis with 2 modes – Road and Cruise. It also gets a new reverse assist feature for comfortable manoeuvring and Shift Assistant Pro as option for shifting up and down without activating the clutch.
The standard feature list of the new BMW K 1600 B includes ABS Pro, dynamic brake light, xenon headlamp, heated grips and seat heating, Dynamic Traction Control DTC, multi-controller, three ride modes and cruise control amongst other features.
