Ford India has launched the new facelifted Ecosport in the country. The compact SUV which had a unique unboxing is priced from INR 7.31 Lakh onwards. It now comes with a new look and host of features. Also making its debut with the launch of the 2017 Ford EcoSport, is the all-new three-cylinder 1.5L TiVCT petrol ‘Dragon’ engine.

The 2017 Ford EcoSport has been comprehensively redesigned and gets almost 1600 new parts. The compact SUV features rugged new looks and a sleek interior makeover along with a raft of ingenious technologies. The new petrol engine now offers more power and increased efficiency. Ford’s design and engineering team have spent more than a million hours studying computer fluid dynamics, and more than 200 hours in a wind tunnel refining the aerodynamics of the new 2017 EcoSport.
The new EcoSport gets a revised front end look with a large upper trapezoidal grille and lower grille based on Ford’s new design language. The sculpted hood features a wider central dome for a more muscular appearance. A continuous line running from the beltline along the edge of the hood accentuates sleek new headlamps with LED daytime running lights.
The reshaped fog lamps give the new EcoSport an edgier and more aggressive look. The compact SUV now also runs on bigger 17-inch alloy wheels with top-of-the-line Titanium+ variant which gives it an aggressive stance.
The 2017 Ford EcoSport comes in both petrol and diesel variants. The EcoSport petrol model is powered by the all-new three-cylinder 1.5-liter Ti-VCT petrol engine which is smaller, lighter and efficient. This engine delivers 123 PS of power and 150 Nm of torque with a 7% reduction in CO2 emissions and outstanding fuel efficiency of 17 Km/L. This motor is equipped with a five-speed manual transmission and is also offered with an all-new six-speed automatic transmission. The EcoSport automatic comes with a sportier steering wheel with first in segment paddle shifters.
The EcoSport diesel variant will be powered by trusted and reliable 1.5L TDCi diesel engine that delivers best-in-class 100 PS power and fuel efficiency of 23 Km/L. The diesel motor will come equipped with a five-speed manual transmission.
The new EcoSport interior is now emotive and user-centric. It has been inspired by smart devices and features a visually appealing and intuitive eight-inch touchscreen along with large and conveniently placed knobs for adjusting volume, temperature and fan speed. The floating screen has been placed closer to the driver’s line of sight, helping them keep their eyes on the road.
There is also a centrally located media bin which makes it easy to stow a smartphone while charging. The bin has been designed to accommodate a phone as large as an iPhone 7 Plus and comes with two illuminated USB ports. The media bin is one of 27 compartments throughout the EcoSport’s cabin, offering convenient places for coffee cups, bottled drinks, sunglasses and umbrellas.
The boot offers flexible cargo space. It comes with an innovative adjustable floorboard which can be mounted on two designated slots to split the boot into different compartments. Across three adjustable positions, the boot space serves from being a load floor for maximum storage to a secure storage area beneath the floorboard to keep valuables, only to end up creating a cargo floor that lines up with the fold-flat rear seats maximising boot space for urban shopping sprees.
The compact SUV also features Ford’s in-car infotainment system, SYNC 3, which allows drivers to control their entertainment, climate settings, as well as their connected smartphone, all with voice commands. The in-car connectivity system is also compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto which allows drivers to make phone calls, access their music, send and receive messages, get directions and more, all while staying focused on the road.
Other key features of the new EcoSport include rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlamps, cruise control, hill launch assist and the rear-view parking camera. In terms of safety features, the 2017 Ford EcoSport is equipped with six airbags, with Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) and also feature Ford’s globally-renowned Emergency Assistance.

The new EcoSport facelift is available in seven colour options – Lightning Blue, Canyon Ridge, Race Red, Diamond White, Absolute Black, Moondust Silver and Smoke Grey.
