Skoda Auto India has launched its first ever 7-seater SUV, the all-new Kodiaq. The launch of the Skoda Kodiaq marks the beginning of a new chapter for the company in its SUV campaign in India.

The ŠKODA KODIAQ is at the forefront of ŠKODA’s SUV campaign and marks the beginning of our SUV strategy in India. With the KODIAQ we will enter a new segment and customer groups for the brand,” said Skoda Auto Board Member for Finance Klaus-Dieter Schurmann.
At the front, the Skoda Kodiaq features the company’s signature wide, three-dimensional radiator grille along with sleek headlamps with full-LED technology. High-mounted fog lamps along with the wide air-intake give the Kodiaq a very powerful stance.
In the side view, the tight and sharp lines along with the smooth surfaces create unique conditions for the effective interplay of light and shadow. The square wheel arches, along with the dark cladding give it a muscular and off-road ready look.
The rear view is accentuated by the split rear lights which are also powered by LED technology and illuminate in the Skoda-typical C-shape. The Kodiaq also features 18-inch Trinity alloy wheels and roof railings which further add to the looks of the 7-seater SUV.
On the tape, the Skoda Kodiaq SUV measures 4697 mm in length, 1882 mm in width and 1676 mm (including roof rails) in height. It also has a wheelbase that measures 2791 mm. The body of the Kodiaq is made with a combination of hot-stamped metal sheets which forms the ultra-strong backbone. Torsional stiffness, manufacturing precision, drive comfort and crash safety are also superior. Even though the SUV is large, it has a drag coefficient value of just 0.336 Cd.

Inside, the new Kodiaq features a luxurious and roomy cabin which can seat 7 people in comfort. It features three-zone Climatronic, which has its own control panel for the rear seats, electrically adjustable front seats with memory function and Panoramic Sunroof.
The SUV also gets lots of storage space and the rear seats are extremely versatile and can be folded in the ratio 40:20:40 and also adjusted by 18 cm to ensure optimum space for passengers in the 2nd and 3rd row. The angle of the backrest is also individually adjustable.
Powering the Kodiaq is a 2.0L TDI engine which produces 150 PS of power and 340 Nm of torque. This motor is mated with an Automatic 7-speed DSG and comes equipped with Skoda’s 4×4 All-wheel drive. It also comes with Driving Mode Select function which allows the driver to adjust the operation of the engine and DSG management, power steering, air conditioning and other systems in Normal, Eco, Sport, snow and Individual modes.
The new Skoda Kodiaq also includes Simply Clever details such as Door Edge Protection strip which pops out when the door opens, Ingenious compartments with two original Skoda umbrellas and the removable boot light which acts a LED flashlight and has a magnet to cling to the metal body.
Some of the other key features of the Skoda Kodiaq include KESSY (Keyless Entry, Start and exit SYstem), Headlamp Washers, Led Boarding Spots, Cruise Control, Roller Blinds For The Rear Side Windows, Power Nap Package, Electrically-Controlled 5th Door With Virtual Pedal, Hands-Free Parking, Canton Sound System with 10 speakers, and more.
When it comes to safety, Skoda Kodiaq comes equipped with iBuzz Fatigue Alert, One-Touch Anti-Pinch Windows, 9-Airbags,Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Mechanical Brake Assistant (MBA), Hydraulic Brake Assistant (HBA), Multi Collision Brake (MKB), Traction Control System (TCS) and Electronic Stability Control (ESC).
