The Aston Martin DB11 Volante is powered by a new 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine that produces 510 PS. Power to the wheels is transferred via an 8-speed paddle-shift automatic transmission. The open-top GT is built around the all-new bonded aluminium structure which was first seen in the DB11 Coupe. This makes it lighter and more rigid than its predecessor.
The new Aston Martin DB11 Volante features the striking single-piece aluminium bonnet and innovative ‘Curlicue’ aerodynamic feature from the DB11 Coupe. The interior gets new wood or carbon fiber veneer panels on the seat backs. The sleek ‘light blade’ tail lights create a bold C graphic while the new design of forged alloy wheels adds to the looks of this luxury convertible.
The distinctive feature of the Aston Martin DB11 Volante is its convertible roof. It combines the timeless appeal of a fabric hood with the very latest acoustic and insulation materials. The all-new 8-layer roof protects the passengers from the extremes of weather and wind noise.
It takes only 14 seconds to lower and 16 seconds to close the roof of this luxury convertible on the move at speeds of up to 31 mph with a 31 mph headwind. This new hood system has also led to a 20 per cent gain in boot volume compared to the outgoing Aston Martin DB9 Volante. The beautifully tailored fabric hood is available in a choice of Bordeaux Red, Black Silver or Grey Silver.
Thanks to the electric power steering and limited-slip differential with dynamic torque vectoring, the driver of the DB11 Volante is able to configure the car’s responses and tailor its behavior in a way that best suits the road, weather conditions or their mood. Creature comforts such as a heated steering wheel encourage all-season open-air motoring. For the first time the rear seats of the Volante now come with seat ISOFIX attachment points.
The all-new roof mechanism of the Aston Martin DB11 Volante has been tested and punished to extreme limits. In the Life Cycle Durability (LCD) test, engineers subjected the roof to more than 100,000 cycles in special weather chambers designed to simulate conditions in the world’s harshest environments. This means that the mechanism was put to 10-years of use in a one month test. The results of the test were then validated with real-world testing of the development prototypes in locations including Arctic Circle and Death Valley.
The new DB11 Volante has been engineered and designed to be the most advanced and complete open-top Aston Martin ever built. It has been made to achieve a fine balance of ride, handling, responsiveness, refinement and dedicated to delivering a new dimension of driving pleasure.
