The new Ford EcoSport has been revealed for customers in Europe. For the first time, the compact sports utility vehicle (SUV) offers Ford Intelligent All Wheel Drive technology combined with an advanced new 1.5-litre EcoBlue diesel engine. Also available for the first time is the new sporty, Ford Performance inspired EcoSport ST‑Line model.
The new EcoSport now carries the latest Ford SUV styling which is inspired by the mid-sized Kuga and large Edge. It features a sculpted bonnet with a central bulge which gives it an athletic look. There are heated washer nozzles hidden beneath the upper bonnet lip.
The front look comprises of the new large trapezoidal grille with distinctive angular headlights that are now powered by a High-Intensity Discharge lighting system. The lamps also incorporate stylish LED daytime running lights. The angular fog lights have been inspired by the straps of a rucksack which reflect the adventurous character of the compact SUV. The rear bumper and the tail lights have been tweaked as well.
The new Ford EcoSport is available in 12 bold exterior colors which include the new Lightning Blue, Ruby Red and vibrant metallic orange shade, Tiger Eye. Customers can further personalize their EcoSport with the new contrasting extended painted roof color option which extends to the window pillars, upper door frames, rear roof spoiler and door mirrors.
The compact SUV also comes with new 17-inch and 18-inch alloy wheels depending on the variant. They come in in a number of finishes, including Shadow Silver, Magnetic Low Gloss, Flash Grey and High Gloss Black. Customers also have the option to order the boot-mounted spare wheel option.
Inside the new Ford EcoSport features soft-touch materials, a new ergonomically designed center console and features minimal buttons. The seats have been improved to provide greater occupant comfort and make use of partial leather for a more upmarket feel. The cabin also gets adjustable mood lightning that can be set to one of seven colors.
The interior also features a host of smart stowage solutions including a new height adjustable boot floor that can be raised to provide concealed storage, or lowered to increase luggage capacity to 334 liters. There is also a built-in folding, sliding passenger armrest with a storage compartment which is ideal for tablet computers or snacks.
The new Ford EcoSport features a floating 8-inch color touchscreen with SYNC 3. The system is now compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Based on the variant chosen, Ford also offers a floating 6.5-inch color touchscreen with SYNC 3. A 4.2-inch color screen is offered in combination with Bluetooth connectivity and two USB inputs.
The audio experience is elevated thanks to the new B&O PLAY sound system which features ten speakers, including boot-mounted subwoofer and a mid-range speaker in the center of the dash. The special calibrated system is controlled by the latest Digital Signal Processing Amplifier that allows for precise equalization and audio mixing, including a Surround Sound setting.
Also for the first time, the new Ford EcoSport is equipped with Cruise Control with Adjustable Speed Limiter. It also features Rear View Parking Camera, Automatic Headlights, Rain-Sensing Wipers, Heated Power-foldable Mirrors, Blind Spot Information System, Roll Stability Control, Heated Steering wheel and Electronic Automatic Temperature Control.
The new EcoSport has improved occupant protection and now includes driver and passenger front airbags, a driver knee airbag, side airbags and curtain airbags. The SUV is also more secure than ever before, with a standard perimeter alarm.
The new Ford EcoSport is also equipped with the Ford Intelligent All Wheel Drive. The technology is offered in combination with the all-new 1.5-litre Ford EcoBlue diesel engine and a six-speed manual gearbox. This engine produces 125 PS and 300 Nm of torque. The 1.5-litre EcoBlue diesel model will also be offered with a front-wheel drive option.
The other motor to be offered is Ford’s 100 PS 1.5-litre TDCi diesel engine. This engine is combined with front-wheel drive and all-new six-speed manual gearbox. Also on offer will be Ford’s multi-award-winning 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine in 140 PS, 125 PS and 100 PS power outputs with a six-speed manual gearbox. The 125 PS variant will also be offered with a six-speed automatic gearbox featuring steering-column mounted paddle-shifters.
Also for the first time, the new Ford EcoSport line-up will include the sporty new EcoSport ST-Line variant. This model joins the family of other ST-line models such as the Edge ST-Line, Fiesta ST-Line, Focus ST-Line, Kuga ST-Line, Mondeo ST-Line and S-MAX ST-Line. This special model offers bold styling and sports-tuned driving dynamics alongside powerful and efficient EcoBoost petrol and TDCi diesel engines.
The Ford EcoSport ST-Line features Ford Performance-inspired bumpers and side skirts, black-finish roof rails and headlight bezels. It also gets 17-inch Dark Tarnish alloy wheels, ST-Line badging and extended painted roof and door mirrors as standard.
Inside there is a unique ST-Line leather-trimmed flat-bottomed steering wheel and partial leather seats featuring Miko-Dinamica inserts with red stitching. The handbrake lever and gear knob are also finished in leather. Additionally, the SUV gets ST-Line branded scuff plates and stainless steel sports pedals.
