After creating a record for the Fastest Lap Ever by a production car at the Buddh International Circuit, Mercedes-Benz India has launched Mercedes-AMG GT R and its topless cousin the Mercedes-AMG GT Roadster in the country. These two beasts from Affalterbach were launched by Roland Folger, Managing Director and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India.
The 2017 Mercedes-AMG GT R had clocked a lap timing of 2:09:853 minutes which earned it the title for the Fastest Lap at the Buddh International Circuit. This record was earlier with the legendary Mercedes-Benz vehicle SLS AMG which had completed the lap in 2:14.521 minutes in March 2013.

2017 Mercedes-AMG GT R:
The Mercedes-AMG GT R is powered by a 4.0-litre V8 bi-turbo engine that generates a power output of 585 hp at 6250 rpm and 700 Nm between 1900-5500 rpm. The supercar can reach to 100 km/h from standstill in just 3.6 seconds and can attain a top speed of 318 km/h. This engine is equipped with the AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed sports transmission.
The standard features of the Mercedes-AMG GT R include new Panamericana grille, Carbon-fibre roof, Exclusive lightweight AMG Performance 10-twin-spoke forged wheels, AMG Interior Night package, AMG Performance steering wheel in black DINAMICA microfiber with top-stitching, AMG Traction control, AMG electronic rear-axle limited-slip differential, AMG RIDE CONTROL sports suspension, AMG Performance exhaust system with titanium elements.

Powering the Mercedes-AMG GT Roadster is a 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine that churns out a power of 476 hp and torque of 630 Nm. The engine is mated with the AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed sports transmission. The topless two-seater can accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 4.0 seconds and reach speeds up to 302 km/h.
The roof of the Mercedes-AMG GT Roadster Opens up in just 11 seconds at speeds of up to 50 km/h. The triple-layer fabric soft top is stretched over a magnesium, steel and aluminium frame. Its low weight aids in maintaining the vehicleʼs low centre of gravity. An aluminium cross-member provides additional protection in case of a rollover.
