Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has launched the much awaited Jeep Compass in India. The Made-In-India SUV is produced at the company’s Ranjangoan facility and is also the first locally manufactured Jeep model in India. The SUV is available in three variants – Sport, Longitude and Limited. The Longitude trim is available only with the diesel motor.
The compass SUV gets a blend of athletic styling with sweeping curves. The sloping roofline and powerful wings create a stunning profile that speaks volumes about the sculpted design aesthetic. The Compass looks like a junior Grand Cherokee.
It features the seven-slot grille which pays homage to Jeep‘s proud history, squared wheel arches, Body-colour exterior mirrors with chrome accents and integrated side signal, distinctive LED daytime running lamps and wraparound rear tail lamps. The chrome elements across the body lend a premium touch to the Jeep Compass. All three variants sport different wheel designs.
Inside the Jeep Compass features Ski grey leather Upholstery, a leather wrapped multi-functional steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, Uconnect infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Customisable 3.5-inch Graphic Information Cluster, height adjustable driver seat and 60:40 split rear seats.
The Jeep Compass petrol variant is powered by The 1.4 Multiair engine that produces 162 PS of power and a torque of 250 Nm. This engine is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission and also gets an option for a 7-speed Dual Dry Clutch Transmission.
The diesel model of the Compass gets the 2.0 Multijet II engine which generates 173 PS of power and a torque of 350 Nm. This engine is coupled with a 6-speed manual gearbox and also gets Jeep Active Drive 4×4 System on the top-spec variant.
The 4X4 model is equipped with the Jeep Active Drive with Selec-Terrain which provides four driving modes – Auto, Snow, Sand and Mud. The SUV also features Frequency Selective Damping (FSD) suspension which is a first in this segment.
Other features of this compact SUV include Passive Entry with Keyless Go, all season tyres, Electronic Parking Brake (EPB), Reverse Parking Camera, six airbags, Hill Start Assist (HSA), ABS, Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), Traction Control and Electronic Stability Control.

Deliveries are said to commence from August 6, 2017, onwards. Initially, the diesel manual transmission variants will be delivered while the Petrol automatic variants are scheduled for delivery by Diwali.
The Jeep Compass comes with a 3 year/ 1,00,000 km warranty. The compact SUV is available across the 50 retail outlets spread over 47 cities. FCA India has also introduced the Mopar-branded service centres across India which will be responsible for the after sales and service of Jeep in India.
