Skoda Auto India has launched the New 2017 Skoda Octavia in the country at an attractive starting price of INR 15.49 lakh (ex-showroom). The executive sedan will be available in three variants – Ambition, Style and Style Plus. The new Octavia will be offered in four exterior colours – Quartz Grey, Candy White, Magic Black and Brilliant Silver.
The exterior of the 2017 Skoda Octavia has been revised to sport a new sleek and emotive crystalline design. It continues to offer class leading quality, generously sized interiors and optimised driving characteristics. The new Octavia sets benchmarks in its segment with safety, technology and connectivity features.

The 2017 Skoda Octavia now appears more powerful and masculine featuring the brand’s new design language. The Quad LED headlamps with CrystalGlo LED Daytime Running Lights to give the car a distinct and classy look. Other notable changes on the new Octavia include a redesigned rear bumper, LED tail lamps and a set of new alloy wheels.
The headlamps get automatically activated by the light sensors in low light conditions and are equipped with Adaptive Front Light System (AFS). Further AFS varies the geometry of the light beam, adapting the light pattern with different driving scenarios. The inclusion of Cornering Fog Lamps makes driving the Octavia at night safer.
Inside the Octavia gets a new 8-inch colour touch screen display with eight speakers which is available with the Amundsen infotainment unit. The responsive touchscreen comes in a high-quality glass design and is equipped with SmartLink technology which supports Android Auto, Apple Carplay and MirrorLink. BossConnect through Skoda Media Command App with new age connectivity solutions integrated into the Amundsen navigation system enables occupants to control functions like Radio, Playing Music from SD card or USB storage. Additionally, navigation function and the volume can be controlled from the rear seats. The new Octavia gets two USB charging ports in the rear adding to the convenience of the rear passengers.
The 2017 Skoda Octavia has a boot space of 590 litres which can be increased to 1580 litres by folding the 60:40 split rear seats. The new Octavia features Panoramic Electric Sunroof, Rear seat centre armrest with adjustable cup holders, storage compartment under the front passenger seat, front glove box with cooling and illumination removable rear parcel shelf with space saving transport position and 8 bottle holders. The updated model also gets a ticket holder on A-pillar, waste bin for the door trim and a tablet holder on the backs of front seats.
Skoda is offering the new Octavia with three engine options – 1.4-litre TSI, 1.8-litre TSI and 2.0-litre TDI. The petrol 1.4 TSI engine produces 150 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque. It can accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 8.1 seconds and reach a top seed of 219 km/h. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission and provides a fuel efficiency of 16.7 kmpl.
For petrol lovers who want more power, there is the 1.8 TSI engine that produces 180 PS of power and a maximum torque of 250 Nm. It can reach a top speed of 231 km/h and accelerate to 100 km/h from rest in 7.3 seconds. This engine is coupled with a 7-speed automatic transmission and provides a fuel efficiency of 15.1 kmpl.
The turbocharged 2.0 TDI diesel engine generates 143 PS of power and maximum torque of 320 Nm. It comes mated to a 6-speed manual transmission as standard and also gets an option for a 6-speed DSG transmission. The Octavia with this engine can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 218 km/h and gives a fuel economy of 21 kmpl.
The suspension of the new Octavia includes a MacPherson design with lower triangular wishbones on the front axle and depending on the engine variant, a multi-link or four-link rear axle. As part of the update, the rear track has been widened by 20 and 30 mm respectively to make the car handle better than its predecessor. The rack-and-pinion steering uses an efficient electro-mechanical servo drive, which also enables interaction with numerous assistance systems such as the Hands-free Parking feature which makes parking in tight spots much easier during both parallel and perpendicular parking.
Safety wise the new 2017 Skoda Octavia gets dual airbags at the front and sides as standard. The Style Plus trim gets an additional set of side and curtain airbags in front and rear too. In total, the executive sedan comes with 8 airbags to ensure complete safety of the occupants. Additional safety features include Safety Seat Belt Signal for driver and passenger along with iBuzz Fatigue Alert. Child seats can be secured using Isofix and top tether anchor points. The new Octavia is also available with Tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS).
