Ducati India has launched the new Multistrada 950 in the country along with the Monster 797. The 2017 Ducati Multistrada 950 is the smallest multi-bike from the Bologna-based bike manufacturer. It is targeted at customers who want to enjoy some touring and at the same time want an agile fun motorcycle that’s ideal for everyday use.
The 2017 Ducati Multistrada 950 has been developed as a compact bike which takes its cue from the two bigger-engined Multistrada family members. The Multistrada 950 uses design features and the lightest elements from both the Multistrada 1200 and Multistrada 1200 Enduro.
The aggressive front view with its beak like shape, distinctive headlight, adjustable screen, wings and the tank are taken from the Multistrada 1200, while the rider’s seat with narrow mid-section, the passenger seat, rear grab rail, the design of the exhaust and swingarm and the wheel sizes were taken from the Multistrada 1200 Enduro. The result is a compact motorcycle with classic Multistrada traits
The frame is designed to maximise efficiency in terms of both weight and performance, the rear sub-frame is made from aluminium with integrated pannier supports and new switchgears which are ergonomic and practical are just some of the characteristics that underscore Ducati’s attention to detail.
The Multistrada 950 was developed with long-range touring in mind and has been designed to ensure outstanding comfort, even when the bike is fully laden. The bike can easily seat two people, even with a top case and side panniers attached. The Multistrada 950 seat is 840 mm off the ground but customers can also opt for a lower 820 mm seat and a higher 860 mm one which are available as Ducati Performance accessories.
The 2017 Ducati Multistrada 950 features high-tech front headlight and LED taillight. It also has a large easy-to-see LCD instrument panel that provides the rider with primary and secondary information. A hazard warning lights function is also available on the Multistrada 950 which can be activated by pressing the dedicated key.
Powering the 2017 Ducati Multistrada 950 is the renowned twin cylinder 937 cc Testastretta 11° engine which develops a power of 113 hp at 9,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 96.2 Nm at 7,750 rpm. It is coupled to a 6-speed gearbox with slipper clutch. This engine has a maintenance interval of 15,000 km or 12 months, with valve clearance inspection every 30,000 km.
The Multistrada 950 has upside down 48 mm front forks with 170 mm wheel travel and adjustable Sachs rear suspension with 170 mm wheel travel. The bike gets Y-spoke alloy wheels of size 19-inch in front and 17-inch at the rear. The wheels are fitted with Pirelli Scorpion Trail II tyres that offer a perfect blend of off-road racing capacity and great road performance.
Stopping duty for the Multistrada 950 is done by dual 320 mm front discs that are gripped by Brembo monobloc radial callipers and at the rear, a 265 mm disc is gripped by a floating Brembo calliper.
The 2017 Ducati Multistrada 950 is also equipped with a Ducati Safety Pack (DSP) that includes Bosch ABS and Ducati Traction Control (DTC) which is managed via four different Riding Modes – Sport, Touring, Urban and Enduro
Ducati Riding Modes:
Touring: This mode delivers 113 hp with progressive Ride-by-Wire throttle twist response, DTC is set higher (level 5) as is the ABS (level 3), maximising both braking stability and wheel lift-up prevention.
Sport: This mode transforms the Multistrada 950 into an adrenalin-fuelled 113 hp machine. This Riding Mode is characterised by a direct Ride-by-Wire throttle twist response, a low DTC setting (level 4) and low ABS setting (level 2) with no rear wheel lift-up prevention.
Urban: This mode delivers a maximum power of 75 hp with progressive Ride-by-Wire throttle twist response; DTC is set to an even higher intervention level (level 6) and the ABS setting is at level 3, maximising braking stability and wheel lift-up prevention.
Enduro: This mode gives the Multistrada 950 a maximum power of 75 hp with progressive Ride-by-Wire throttle twist response; DTC intervention is suitable (level 2) for off-road use and the ABS setting is low (level 1), deactivating rear wheel lift-up prevention.
Ducati India will be offering a whole range of accessories for the 2017 Ducati Multistrada 950, including accessory packages like Touring, Sport, Urban and Enduro which will help customers to transform their motorcycle’s character.
2017 Ducati Multistrada 950 Colours:
The Multistrada 950 is offered in Ducati Red and Star White Silk. The latter will be available from November this year.
