The sports car for every occasion, Porsche 911 has reached a new milestone. A million units of this iconic and beautiful car have been produced. It is one of the most important models in Porsche’s product lineup and is also responsible for maintaining the company’s position as one of the most prestigious car manufacturers in the world.
The One-Millionth Porsche 911 model that rolled off the production line on 11th May was a 2017 Carrera S. It was finished in a special Irish Green shade and includes some exclusive features that are inspired by the original 911 from 1963.
Dr. Wolfgang Porsche, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Porsche AG, and who has been a part of the development of the 911 since day one said, “54 years ago, I was able to take my first trips over the Grossglockner High Alpine Road with my father. The feeling of being in a 911 is just as enjoyable now as it was then. That’s because the 911 has ensured that the core values of our brand are as visionary today as they were in the first Porsche 356/1 from 1948.”
The one-millionth Porsche 911 is not meant to be sold. It will proudly be displayed at the Porsche Museum but before that the two-door sports car will set out on a world tour.
Porsche 911 has won countless motorsport successes. The iconic car has been responsible for more than half of Porsche’s over 30,000 race victories. The 911 remains at the top of the premium sports car segment and has maintained its exclusivity over the decades and has become a much sought-after collector’s item.
All models of Porsche 911 ever built have been manufactured at the production facility in the headquarters in Zuffenhausen. Porsche has never deviated from the founding concept of the original 911 but has continued on evolving it with advanced technology and new innovations.
The model line-up has been successfully expanded through derivatives of the sports car and all of the two-door models are made on one assembly line. Soon the Porsche Mission E will also join the other cars on the production line which will mark a new era for Porsche.
