Volkswagen India has launched its 5-seater premium SUV, the 2017 Volkswagen Tiguan. It will be available in two variants – Comfortline and Highline.
The Volkswagen Tiguan made its debut in the year 2007, in Europe. The compact SUV quickly became the best-selling product in the segment and was also claimed to be Europe’s safest car. More than 3.5 million units of the Tiguan have been sold across 150 markets. VW has now brought the SUV to one of the world’s fastest growing car market to repeat the success story.
The 2017 Volkswagen Tiguan is based on VW’s modern MQB platform. It is powered by a 2.0L TDI engine which produces 143 PS of power and 340 Nm of torque. This engine is coupled with a 7-speed automatic DSG gearbox and is equipped with the 4MOTION all-wheel drive system. The SUV delivers an ARAI tested fuel efficiency of 17.06 kmpl.
The new VW Tiguan is the recipient of the German Design Award 2017. The exterior design is clean with crisp lines. The horizontal front chrome grille and the LED headlights with DRLs give it a typical VW look. The body is made from galvanised steel. The front is further emphasised by the dual tone bumper along with the fog lamps and corner lamps. The rear gets a sleek look with the LED tail lamps and the horizontal lines accentuate the width of the SUV. The Comfortline variant gets 17-inch alloy wheels while the Highline model is fitted with 18-inch wheels.
The Tiguan offers a spacious and comfortable cabin. The dashboard gets an aesthetical and functional design. It is equipped with a 3-zone auto climate control system including Air Care Climatronic. The boot offers a luggage capacity of 615 litres with the rear seats up which can be increased to 1655 litres after folding them.
The 2017 Volkswagen Tiguan offers features liked Self-sealing tyres, Vienna leather seats, Rain and Light sensor, Electrically foldable ORVM, Easy open boot, LED illuminated Panoramic Sunroof, Keyless Entry and Go, Auto dimming IRVM, Electrically adjustable driver’s seat and infotainment system with 8 speaker and connectivity options that include Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Mirror Link.
The Volkswagen Tiguan also comes equipped with Pedestrian Safety (Active Hood), 6 Airbags, Hill Start Assist, Auto Hold, Electronic Stabilisation Programme, Anti-lock Braking system and Cruise Control.
