Suzuki Motorcycle India Private Ltd. (SMIPL), a subsidiary of one of the world’s largest motorcycle manufacturers, Suzuki Motor Corporation, Japan has launched the all-new 2017 Suzuki GSX-R1000 and 2017 Suzuki GSX-R1000R in India. Suzuki claims this is the fastest and lightest GSX-R ever made.
The new 2017 Suzuki GSX-R1000 gets an aggressive looking aerodynamic shape which is narrower than before. The bodywork was designed using numerous wind tunnel tests to boost performance by improved handling and top speed on the racetrack. Also aiding to its agility is the new twin-spar type aluminium frame which is 10% lighter and more compact, with optimised rigidity.
The motorcycle is equipped with LED lighting system. The headlamps, tail lamps and license plate are all lit up by LED, which has a very low electrical draw.
The 2017 GSX-R1000 is powered by the newly designed 999.98 cc, 4-stroke, 4-cylinder, liquid-cooled, DOHC engine. It creates a max output of 202 PS at 13,200 rpm and max torque of 117.6 Nm at 10,800 rpm.
Suzuki Racing Variable Valve Timing System (SR-VVT), Ride-by-Wire Throttle Bodies and other race-derived technologies help deliver exceptionally high top-end power without sacrificing low to mid-range power. The motorcycle is equipped with a 4-2-1 exhaust system with titanium muffler which has been designed to offer a broad range of performance.

The engine is matched with a new cassette-style, six-speed transmission which has been tuned for optimal acceleration and top speed. It utilises a new version of the Suzuki Clutch Assist System (SCAS) multi-plate, wet clutch.
Suspension duty on the GSX-R1000 is carried by the SHOWA BPF fork and rear shock. Stopping power comes from the new BREMBO T-drive 320mm dual front brake rotors and Monobloc 4-piston callipers.
Other advanced features on the 2017 Suzuki GSX-R1000 include MotoGP derived Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), Motion Track Traction Control System (MT-TCS), Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (S-DMS). It also gets a new LCD Multifunction Instrument Panel that has been inspired by the GSX-RR MotoGP dash.
For those who still want more, there is the 2017 Suzuki GSX-R1000R which takes everything available on the standard GSX-R1000 and adds to it extra features that transform it into the ultimate GSX-R.
