Jeep Grand Cherokee has been one of the most capable full-size SUV and has won several awards as well. Now the American SUV manufacturer has transformed it into the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk, the most powerful and quicker SUV ever.
The 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk gets many mechanical upgrades along with various modifications to the exterior to make it look aggressive as well as be functional. To make the SUV standout Jeep has provided it with a sculpted hood with dual heat extractors along with body-coloured wheel flares and side sill cladding.
The bi-xenon headlamps which are surrounded by a LED character lamp treatment feature a unique gloss black background to enhance their jewel-like appearance. The signature seven-slot upper front grille proudly sits between the headlamps. Supercharged badges are located on both the front doors.
Fog lamps have been replaced with vents to optimise airflow to cooling units and air induction without compromising the vehicle’s balance. The SUV is also dropped by an inch as compared to the non-SRT Jeep Grand Cherokee.
The rear valence is finished in gloss black and houses a quad exhaust tip setup which is given a black chrome treatment. The Trackhawk badge on the tailgate features a Liquid Titanium Chrome outline and Matte Black background.
The 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk will be available in nine exterior colours which include two exclusive shades Rhino and Redline 2 along with Velvet Red, Diamond Black, Granite Crystal Ivory Tri-coat, Billet Silver, Bright White and True Blue.
Inside the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk features premium soft-touch materials along with details of Light Black Chrome and carbon fibre. The driver is presented with a 7-inch driver information display (DID) instrument cluster, which features the tachometer in the middle, the speedometer on the left side while on the right the fuel and temperature levels are displayed.
The central console houses the new 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen system that features Trackhawk-exclusive Performance Pages which showcase an array of performance timers and gauge readouts, including a new engine dynamometer screen that measures instantaneous horsepower, torque and current transmission gear.
The multi-functional flat-bottom offers comfort, convenience and connectivity controls and gets paddle shifters. The Trackhawk logo can be seen on the bottom of the steering wheel.
This powerful SUV features standard Nappa leather and suede seats with embroidered Trackhawk logo. Also available as an option is a fully wrapped Signature Leather Interior Package with Trackhawk logo embossed on the seats in black and Trackhawk-exclusive Black and Dark Ruby Red. The front and rear seats are heated while the ventilated seats are available only on the front. Dark Ruby Red seatbelts and a dual-pane panoramic sunroof are also available as an option.
The 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk gets the new Premium Metal Package as standard which enhances the interior using real metal accents. Other features inside the SUV include Active Noise Cancellation, Berber floormats with Trackhawk badge, premium headliner, dual-screen rear-seat entertainment centre with Blu-ray, leather stitched instrument panel, doors, center console and armrest and an 825-watt Harman Kardon high-performance audio system with 19-speakers and two subwoofers.
Powering the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is a supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 engine that produces an awe-inspiring 707 horsepower and 645 lb-ft of torque. This motor has been put together using only the strongest and most durable materials. The supercharger is sealed for life with premium synthetic oil and has a maximum speed of 14,600 rpm. Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is capable of towing 7,200 pounds.
To deal with the additional torque output from the supercharged engine the driveline components have been upgraded. It features TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission as standard and is equipped with the Jeep Quadra-Trac on-demand four-wheel-drive system, which consists of an electronic limited-slip rear differential and a single-speed active transfer case.
Standard Launch Control optimises the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk’s performance for a perfect launch and consistent straight-line acceleration. The new Torque Reserve system provides improved engine torque response and quicker vehicle acceleration in Launch Control.
The Selec-Track system on the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk uses performance-tuned software to pre-configure and distinguish the five dynamic modes, including:
AUTO Automatically adapts to any condition; uses 40/60 torque split.
SPORT: Transmission shift times are reduced by 50% as compared to Auto mode; four-wheel-drive, stability control and steering systems are set for typical enthusiast driving style; paddle shifters are enabled and the suspension is tightened up without increasing impact harshness to deliver increased vehicle performance capability over Auto Mode; uses 35/65 torque split.
TRACK: Transmission shift times are reduced 68% versus Auto mode to 160 milliseconds; stability control, four-wheel drive and steering systems are set for ultimate track performance; paddle shifters are enabled and suspension is set to full firm to deliver maximum vehicle performance capability on smooth, dry surfaces; uses 30/70 torque split
TOW: Alters torque delivery off the line for greater smoothness and adjusts the suspension to combat pitch and yaw to deliver maximum towing performance: uses 60/40 torque split.
SNOW: Maximises traction to deliver optimised performance on snow and ice with reduced engine horsepower; uses 50/50 torque split.
CUSTOM: This mode allows the driver to personalise the vehicle’s performance with a selectable driving experience offering a multitude of vehicle system combinations.
The 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk rides on a short- and long-arm (SLA) independent front suspension with coil springs and Bilstein adaptive damping suspension (ADS). The rear suspension is a multi-link design with coil spring and Bilstein ADS.
New high-performance Brembo brakes bring the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk to a stop from 60 mph in 114 feet. They feature the largest standard front brakes ever fitted on a Jeep vehicle. Up front are 400 mm two-piece vented rotors with six-piston callipers while 350 mm vented rotors with four-piston yellow callipers are at the rear. The callipers are finished in a yellow colour.
The 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is equipped with new standard 20-inch Titanium wheels that feature a Satin Chrome center cap. Also available are lightweight 20-inch forged aluminium Low Gloss Black wheels which are almost 12 pounds lighter than the standard wheels. These wheels can be fitted with the all-new Pirelli 295/45ZR20 Scorpion Verde All-Season tires or the new Pirelli P Zero three-season tires with an increased speed rating.
