Tata Tigor – India’s first StyleBack launched

Tata Motors has launched the Tata Tigor, India’s first StyleBack at an introductory starting price of INR 4.95 lakhs ex-showroom, Mumbai. The Tata Tiago based compact sedan is targeted at the young and active generation who seek status and style in a value for money package.

The Tigor offers a radically new styling and design approach making it a unique market proposition. The Tigor Styleback is a clear and exciting signal of the future vehicles from Tata Motors. The all new offering from Tata Motors is the third product embodying the IMPACT Design philosophy which represents a youthful mixture of design, style and attitude.

The dynamic stance of the car is enhanced by special design elements consisting of the three-dimensional projector headlamps with a smoked lens, a dual-coloured bumper with the Tata Signature Grille, and sharp LED tail lamps. Also featuring is the striking chrome humanity line at the front and a stylishly integrated high mounted LED stop lamp which adds character to the Styleback.

The car is cleverly designed to enhance the looks while maximising the utility space. It boasts of a superior legroom, 24 utility spaces to provide ample storage and a class leading 419-litre boot space with wide & clear opening using the innovative 4 bar mechanism. Furthermore, the interior is elegantly designed with a dual-tone cockpit, luxurious patterned seats with bolsters, a premium knitted roof liner, along with customizable air vents which provide the Tigor a very upmarket and welcoming feel.

The Tata Tigor Styleback is offered in both petrol and diesel variants and uses the same engines available on the Tata Tiago. The petrol model is powered by the Revotron 1.2L 3-cylinder petrol engine that produces an optimum power of 85 PS and a maximum torque of 114 Nm while powering the diesel model is the Revotorq 1.05L engine which delivers an optimum power of 70 PS and a maximum torque of 140 Nm.

Both engines get a 5-speed manual transmission and are available with multi-drive modes – Eco and City. The Eco mode optimises engine performance for high fuel economy while the City mode, which is also the default mode, optimises engine output for a peppy driving experience.

The Tata Tigor gets a ConnectNext 5-inch touchscreen system by Harman with 4 Speakers and 4 Tweeters. It features AM/FM, USB, AUX-IN, iPOD connectivity, Speed-dependent volume control, SD card reader, Bluetooth connectivity, Phonebook access, Audio streaming, Call reject with SMS feature, Incoming SMS notifications and read-outs, Voice Command Recognition, Image and Video Playback and can also control the Fully Automatic Climate control.

Also bundled with the infotainment system by Harman is the App Suite which comes with apps like Turn-By-Turn Navigation with 3D-Navimaps, Juke-Car App, Tata Smart Remote, Tata Emergency assist, Tata Smart Manual and Tata Service Connect. These apps add to the connectivity experience and engagement between Tigor and its owner’s device.

Other key features of the Tigor include Electronic Power Assisted Steering (ePAS) with tilt adjustment, height adjustable driver seat, Cooled glove box and Park assist with rear sensors and camera. Safety wise the Tata Tigor is equipped with Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) and Corner Stability Control (CSC), Driver & co-driver airbags and seat belt with pretensioners & load limiters.

Tata’s Styleback is available in 4 variants XE, XT, XZ and XZ (O) both for petrol and diesel. Tata Motors is also providing a standard warranty of 2 years or 75,000 km, with an option to extend it further
