Kawasaki India updates its product line-up for 2017

India Kawasaki Motors Pvt. Ltd., a fully-owned subsidiary of Kawasaki Heavy Industries Japan has updated its product portfolio for the year 2017. The company has introduced the new Z900, Z650, Ninja 650 along with the refreshed Ninja 300 and Versys 650. The Japanese motorcycle manufacturer had recently also launched the limited 2017 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10RR in India.

2017 Kawasaki Z900

2017 Kawasaki Z900 launched in India

The 2017 Kawasaki Z900 replaces the Z800 model and will be imported as a Completely Built Up (CBU) unit. The motorcycle is powered by a 948 cc liquid cooled, in-line four cylinder engine that produces a maximum power of 125 PS @ 9500 rpm and a peak torque of 98.6 Nm @ 7700 rpm. The engine is mated with a 6-speed transmission which gets slipper clutch and revised gear ratios.

The Z900 weighs 211 kg which is 20 kg lighter than the Z800. It has 41 mm inverted forks at the front and a horizontal back-link monoshock at the rear. The 2017 Kawasaki Z900 is equipped with ABS and gets dual 300 mm petal disc at the front with opposed four-piston calliper while a single 250 mm petal disc is provided at the rear with a single piston calliper.

The 2017 Z900 is priced at INR 9 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).

2017 Kawasaki Z650

2017 Kawasaki Z650 launched in India

The 2017 Kawasaki Z650 is the replacement for the Kawasaki ER-6n. The new middle-weight street fighter motorcycle is the naked version of the Ninja 650 and utilises components from the same. It is powered by a 649 cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine which produces 68 PS of maximum power and 65.7 Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated with a 6-speed transmission and receives a slipper clutch.

The Kawasaki Z650 weighs 186 kg and features ABS with dual 300 mm petal disc in front and a single 220 mm petal disc in the rear. Suspension duty is carried out by 41 mm telescopic forks up front and a horizontal back-link monoshock at the rear.

The 2017 Z650 is launched at a price of INR 5.19 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).

2017 Kawasaki Ninja 650

2017 Kawasaki Ninja 650 launched in India

The 2017 Kawasaki Ninja 650 features a sharper styling and gets several mechanical upgrades as well. The front gets a new cowl with a three-way adjustable windscreen visor while the rear has been shortened featuring an X-shaped tail-light. The Ninja 650 gets a new instrumentation console with a programmable shift up light and gear position indicator. It has 41 mm inverted forks at the front and a horizontal back-link monoshock at the rear. ABS now comes as standard.

Powering the 2017 Kawasaki Ninja 650 is the 649 cc, parallel twin cylinder, liquid cooled engine that develops max power of 68 PS @ 8000 rpm and a torque of 65.7 Nm @ 6500 rpm. The bike weighs 193 kg which is a reduction of 19 kg because of the new trellis frame, aluminium swingarm, lighter brakes and alloy wheels.

2017 Kawasaki Versys 650

2017 Kawasaki Versys 650 launched in India

The 2017 Kawasaki Versys 650 has been launched in India. The motorcycle is now powered by a BSIV compliant 649 cc parallel twin-cylinder engine which produces maximum power of 69 PS @ 8500 rpm and peak torque of 64 Nm @ 7000 rpm.

Among the new features, the Versys 650 is given a green and black colour scheme along with a gear position indicator and adjustable windshield. The bike has 41 mm hydraulic telescopic fork with stepless adjustable rebound and preload at front while at the rear it gets single offset laydown shock with remote adjustable spring preload.

The Versys 650 gets ABS and is provided with dual 300mm petal-style rotors with 2-piston callipers in front and a single 250mm petal-style rotor with a single-piston calliper at the rear.

The 2017 Versys 650 is priced at INR 6.60 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).

2017 Kawasaki Ninja 300

2017 Kawasaki Ninja 300 launched in India

The 2017 Kawasaki Ninja 300 has been renewed with mild mechanical and cosmetic changes. The motorcycle is now powered by a BSIV compliant twin cylinder 296 cc, liquid-cooled engine which produces a max power of 39 PS @ 11000 rpm and max torque of 27 Nm @ 10000 rpm.

The engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission with slipper clutch. Stopping power comes from a 290 mm petal disc in the front and a 220 mm petal disc in the rear. Sadly the Ninja 300 does not get ABS.

2017 Kawasaki Ninja 300 Price:

The 2017 Ninja 300 is priced at INR 3.64 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).
