2018 Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo – a station wagon with the Porsche DNA

Porsche has introduced a new member to the Panamera family: The Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo which will make its world premiere at the 2017 Geneva International Motor Show.

The Porsche Panamera Sport is based on the successful sports saloon version and makes a profound statement in the luxury segment with its unmistakeable design. The Panamera Sport Turismo has very dynamic proportions which is a perfect reflection of the Porsche design DNA. The vehicle is 5.0 m long, 1.4 m high and 1.9 m wide, while the large wheelbase spans 2.95 m.

The new body style is similar to the Gran Turismo version uptill the B-pillars, from here it features a completely unique rear design. The silhouette is characterised by short body overhangs and large wheels measuring up to 21 inches. The elongated window line and equally long roof contour lend the vehicle its striking appearance. The roof drops away much less dramatically than the window line, resulting in a prominent and distinctive D-pillar which transitions into the shoulder section in a coupe-like fashion.

The roof of the Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo extends into an adaptive spoiler whose angle is set in three stages depending on the driving situation and selected vehicle settings and generates an additional downforce of up to 50 kg on the rear axle.

Up to a speed of 170 km/h, the roof spoiler stays in its retracted position, reducing drag and thus optimises fuel consumption. Above 170 km/h, the roof spoiler automatically moves to the performance position, thereby increasing driving stability and lateral dynamics. When the panoramic sliding roof is open at a speed of 90 km/h or above the roof spoiler is angled to minimise wind noise.

The new Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo is also the first Panamera to feature 4+1 seating concept. The Sport Turismo is also available in a four-seat configuration with two electrically adjustable individual seats at the rear. The raised roof line of the Sport Turismo allows for easier entry and exit at the rear of the vehicle and ensures greater head room.

The interior of the Panamera Sport Turismo is identical to the saloon model. The digitalisation of the interior has reached the next development stage in the form of the new Porsche Advanced Cockpit. Two 7-inch displays are placed directly in the driver’s line of sight for ideal ergonomics. An analogue tachometer sits between these two displays. The gearshift console between the driver and the front passenger is dominated by the 12.3-inch touchscreen of the next generation Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system.

The PCM features online navigation, Porsche Connect, smartphone integration via Apple Car Play and voice control system. A new control panel with touch-sensitive switches on the centre console enables intuitive control of various functions even the louvres of the central air vent are electrically adjusted by touch-sensitive sliders. Rear passengers can control air conditioning using an optional four-zone automatic climate control system.

The luggage compartment benefits from the wide opening tailgate, which is electrically operated and has a loading edge height of just 628 mm. The Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo boasts of a 520-litre storage capacity. The backrests of the three rear seats can be folded down together or individually in a 40:20:40 split and are unlocked electrically from the luggage compartment. When all of the backrests are folded down, the storage volume is expanded to up to 1390 litres.

Customers can also request a luggage compartment management system for the Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo which includes two rails integrated in the loading floor, four lashing points and a luggage compartment partition net. Also available as an option is a 230-V electrical socket in the luggage compartment.
