FCA India, a wholly owned subsidiary of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, the world’s seventh largest automaker has launched the petrol version of the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited at INR 56 lakhs ex-showroom Delhi
Last year, Jeep Wrangler Unlimited entered into the Indian market with a diesel engine at an ex-showroom price of INR 71.59 lakhs. Due to its high price, some prospective customers went off the buying grid. The introduction of the petrol variant allows the company to reduce the entry price point for their brand by INR 15.59 lakh, hence making it the cheapest offering from Jeep India.
The Jeep Wrangler Unlimited petrol variant is powered by a 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine. This same motor powers more than 5 million Jeep vehicles across the globe. The engine generates 284 PS at 6350 rpm and a torque of 347 Nm at 4300 rpm.
This all-aluminium engine is engineered in a 60-degree layout and utilizes lightweight components to keep the overall weight to a minimum. This provides great performance on and off the road. The engine also gets a two-step variable valve timing system and eight-holed fuel injectors.
The Pentastar engine also features a new thermal management system and a cooled Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system to deliver better fuel efficiency in off-roading situations as well.
All this power is transferred to the four wheels through a with a 5-Speed Automatic gearbox. The SUV also comes with Command-Trac 4WD system, Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and heavy duty suspension with gas shock absorbers. The ARAI-rated fuel economy figure for the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited petrol is 8.4 kmpl.
The Jeep Wrangler Unlimited measures 4583 mm in length, 1877 mm in width and 1829 mm in height with a hard top. The height with the sof top is 1860 mm. The SUV has a 35° approach angle, 18° breakover angle and 28° departure angle. The wheelbase is 2947 mm long while the kerb weight is 2119 kg.
The SUV features wash-out interiors with removable carpet and drain plugs. It also gets air conditioning with automatic temperature control, leather-wrapped steering wheel, auto headlamps and remote keyless entry. The McKinley leather seats can be ordered in black or dark saddle trim.
Other key features include Uconnect system with navigation, Alpine premium sound system, Hill Start Assist (HSA) and Electronic Roll Mitigation. It also gets power heated mirrors and advanced multistage front airbags.
Customers have a choice of six colours- Black, Bright White, Billet Silver Mettalic, Granite Crystal, Firecracker Red and Rhino. Three roof top options are also provided – No roof, Soft top and Hard Top.
For more open-air freedom the SUV comes with an option for removable full-framed doors. The Wrangler Unlimited rides on 17-inch alloy wheels finished in Sprarkle Silver shade.
