Honda City 2017 launched in India; Prices start from INR 8.49 Lakhs

Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL), has launched the Honda City 2017 in India today. The new model gets updated exterior design, enhanced safety features and an advanced high-technology infotainment system.

The 4th Generation Honda City 2017 is based on the concept of “Advanced, Energetic and Smart”. The updated model comes with various high-technology exterior and interior features.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Yoichiro Ueno, President and CEO, Honda Cars India Ltd. said, “The Honda City has been our most successful model in the country. It has brought joy to over 6.5 lakh customers across the country and has been India’s most successful sedan since its launch in 1998. It has also been the industry benchmark for quality and has been ranked No. 1 by the JD Power Initial Quality Study 14 times since its inception in the Indian market.

The exterior of the Honda City 2017 now has a wide stance. It features a new signature front chrome grille that connects with both headlights. The bumper with larger openings give it a sporty look. Also available are the new diamond-cut and two-tone alloy wheels which come in both 15 and 16 inch sizes.

The City now comes with inline LED headlamps including the integrated LED DRL, LED fog lamps, LED Rear Combi lamp, LED license plate lamp and trunk lid spoiler with LED. The City also gets auto-folding door mirrors in V, VX and ZX grades.

The New City gets a soft-touch dashboard on passenger side and advanced 3D multi-information meter illuminated in white. The interiors are draped in premium beige upholstery with dual-tone beige & black trims.

Other interior features include chrome plating on steering switches, chrome plated knobs for rear-aircon vents, tilt and telescopic steering adjustment, new white and red illumination for engine push start-stop button, fully auto-dimming inside rear-view mirror and new LED interior cabin lights. The ZX grade also gets rear adjustable headrests.

The Honda City 2017 now comes with an advanced 17.7 cm touchscreen infotainment system, called the Digipad, in the V, VX and ZX trims. The Digipad has features like satellite-linked navigation, voice recognition, 1.5 GB internal memory, Bluetooth telephony and audio streaming. Input options include 2 USB-in slots, 2 microSD card slots and 1 HDMI-in slot. The system also gets Wi-Fi support for Internet and Mirror Link support for smart phone connectivity.

The Honda City 2017 petrol variant is powered by the 1.5L i-VTEC engine that delivers a maximum power of 119 PS at 6600 RPM and a torque of 145 Nm at 4600 RPM. Customers have a choice to choose between a 5-speed manual transmission that delivers an impressive fuel efficiency of 17.4 kmpl or the CVT with 7-speed paddle shifters that delivers fuel efficiency of 18 kmpl. The diesel model is powered by the 1.5-litre i-DTEC engine which generates 100 PS of power at 3600 rpm and 200 Nm of torque at 1750 rpm. This motor is coupled to a 6-speed manual gearbox.

When it comes to safety the Honda City 2017 is equipped with a range of active and passive safety technologies that are offered as standard equipment across all variants. These include Honda’s own ACE body structure, Dual SRS front airbags, Anti-lock brake system (ABS) with Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), 3- Point ELR seat belts with pretensions and load limiters, impact mitigating front head rest system, pedestrian injury mitigation technology, ISOFIX compatible rear seats and rear windshield defogger.

The new flagship grade City ZX along with the above standard safety features gets 6 airbags (front dual airbags, both side curtain airbags and both front seat side airbags. The ZX variant also introduces automatic headlights, headlamp auto-off timer and automatic rain-sensing wipers to the feature list.

Honda City 2017 Colours

The New Honda City 2017 will be available in 5 colours – White Orchid Pearl, Carnelian Red Pearl, Alabaster Silver Metallic, Golden Brown Metallic and a new shade called the Modern Steel Metallic.

The new City will be offered in 5 grades. Petrol manual transmission will be available in S, SV, V & VX grades. Petrol CVT will be available in V, VX and the ZX grades. The diesel manual City will be available in SV, V, VX & ZX grades.

Honda is offering 3 years/unlimited Kilometres warranty as standard benefit to the customer. Additionally the customers can opt for Extended Warranty for two more years/unlimited kilometres for extra peace of mind.
