2017 KTM Duke 390 launched in India at INR 2.25 Lakhs

The all-new 2017 KTM Duke 390 has been launched in India along with the new KTM Duke 250 and the KTM Duke 200. The 390 Duke is a favourite amongst enthusiasts for its thrilling power and race technology.

The latest iteration of the KTM Duke 390 gets a new body design which is inspired by the bigger KTM 1290 SuperDuke R. Highlighting the front is the all-new LED headlamps which provide optimal illumination of the near field with maximum light output. The parking light which consists of 20 LEDs ensures that the motorcycle stands out to other road users, hence ensuring the rider’s safety.

The KTM Duke 390 now gets a bigger fuel tank which can hold 13.5 litres of petrol. The shape of the tank allows perfect knee contact for the rider. The bike offers an upright and relaxed seating position. It is also quite spacious and allows freedom of movement for strain free touring.

The 390 Duke boasts of a glorious multicolour TFT display which presents all relevant data in a sleek way. The display bars change colour as the engine rpm rises. The display also automatically adapts its illumination to the ambient light. A smartphone connects with the  bike via Bluetooth, giving the rider control over incoming calls and an audio player. The illuminated menu switch on the left side of the handlebar allows the rider to access various assistance features and different modes.

Powering the KTM 390 Duke is a single cylinder engine which produces 43.5 PS of power and 37 Nm of torque. The bike has a power-to-weight ratio of 267 PS/tonne. The engine is paired with a 6-speed transmission and is equipped with a slipper clutch.

The Ride-By-Wire technology eliminates the use of the throttle cable and instead uses sensors to guarantee a smooth throttle response. The KTM Duke 390 obtains an entirely new exhaust including link pipe and silencer to comply with the latest Euro 4 emission restrictions and sound regulations.

The 2017 KTM Duke 390 gets a dual-colour lightweight steel trellis frame with a bolt-on sub-frame and is engineered to maximise manoeuvrability and provide a thrilling ride experience. At the front, The KTM Duke 390 utilises upside-down (USD) forks from WP Suspension which uses the latest open-cartridge technology.

At the rear, suspension duty is carried out by WP shock absorber which is mounted on the die-cast swingarm that has been designed and produced according to the same standards and principles as the one on the KTM 690 Duke R.

This naked bike comes with a larger 320 mm rotor for the front disc brake and works in tandem with the 2-channel Bosch ABS which can be switched off. The Duke 390 runs on 17-inch cast light alloy wheels which are fitted with Metzeler tyres. They are 110 mm wide at the front and an impressive 150 mm at the rear.

The 2017 KTM Duke 390 is priced at Rs. 2,25,730 ex-showroom Delhi. Bookings have started. The motorcycles will be dispatched from next week onwards to dealerships.
