Ferrari 812 Superfast Is The Most Powerful Ferrari Ever

The year 1947 marked the official start of the Ferrari’s story. 70 years later, the company is ready to unleash its most powerful and fastest production model. The Ferrari 812 Superfast will make its world premiere at the 2017 Geneva International Motor Show.

The Ferrari 812 Superfast will debut in a special new colour, Rosso Settanta to mark the company’s 70th anniversary. Like its name, the car is certainly super-fast. It can reach 0 to 100 kmph in just 2.9 seconds. The company also claims the 812 Superfast can achieve speeds in excess of 340 kmph.

Hidden below the hood of the Ferrari 812 Superfast, lies a new 6.5-litre V12 engine. This new motor generates 800 cv (789 hp) and a torque of 718 Nm. Ferrari claims no other front-engined production car has ever even come near to delivering such high figures. The engine will ensure a thrilling top-end performance that is the exclusive characteristic of Ferrari’s noble V12 heritage.

For the very first time, a high-performance engine will use a 350 bar direct injection system. The motor is also paired with variable geometry intake tracts that are conceptually derived from those of naturally-aspirated F1 engines. The dual-clutch transmission on the Ferrari 812 Superfast has specific gear ratios which provide shorter shifting times between gears and also sharpen throttle response.

The 812 Superfast is also the first Ferrari to sport an Electric Power Steering (EPS) system. The EPS also integrated with all the electronic vehicle dynamics controls. This includes the latest 5.0 version of Ferrari’s Side Slip Control (SSC). Also for the first time, the Ferrari 812 Superfast features Virtual Short Wheelbase 2.0 system, which improves the agility of the handling and reduces the vehicle response times even further.

Ferrari Styling Centre has designed the 812 Superfast. Its silhouette has a fastback sleekness which redefines the way Ferrari’s front-engined cars are perceived. The 812 Superfast reminds of the glorious 1969 Ferrari 365 GTB4.

The 812 Superfast has a very aggressive as well as a muscular body design. The full-LED headlights are blended into the sculpted air intakes on the bonnet. It emphasises the front muscle and wraps around the front wheel arch. At the rear are the traditional Ferrari four round taillights. The lamps are placed around horizontal lines which give the 812 Superfast a broad and imposing stance.

Like all Ferraris, style and aerodynamic function go hand in hand to bring out innovative solutions and new forms. The 812 Superfast includes active flaps at the front of the underbody while the rear features an aerodynamic by-pass to increase downforce.

The inside of the 812 Superfast has been styled with floating elements. These give the interior, a racecar like feel. Moreover, the cabin has been designed to offer exceptional comfort and space. The interiors also include new sporty and ergonomic seats, new steering wheel and instrument clusters. In addition to the above features are the new HMI and the latest infotainment and air-conditioning units.
