The BMW Concept X7 iPerformance is the brand’s whole new take on luxury. It introduces the BMW Sports Activity Vehicle DNA into the luxury segment. Featuring the new BMW design language that employs just a few, extremely precise lines and subtle surface-work the SUV has a luxurious and sophisticated feel to it.
The concept is clearly identified as an X model thanks to its vertical proportions with significant ground clearance. The front end of the BMW X7 Concept is dominated by a large, vertical kidney grille which is solid in design. Twin BMW laser light with a blue X signature link to the large kidney grille.
There is a prominent bar running across the full width in the lower section of the front apron. This bar rises vertically to frame the outer air intakes at their upper edge. Quasi-vertical aero lips further accentuate the car’s powerful stance on the road. Customary X features such as the trapezoidal bumpers and underguard also appear on the concept SUV.
From the side, we can see the massive proportions of the BMW X7 Concept. The vertical front end along with the vertical rear and steeply rising angle from the rear wheels to the tailgate give the SUV a muscular look. The high-set lines of the flanks bring an expressive confidence to the car’s silhouette. The shoulder line which stretches along the length lends a very athletic look and acts as a separator between the metal surfaces and the airy glasshouse.
Also featuring for the first time in an X vehicle the wheel arches sport a circular cut. A chrome strip originates from the Air Breathers behind the front wheel and runs in the door sills and also extends to the rear of the BMW SUV.
The rear of the BMW Concept X7 iPerformance gives a sense of powerful authority and exclusive elegance. The rear is highlighted by the three-dimensional L shaped tail lamps and vertical aero lips. A classy chrome bar connects the two lighting elements. The absence of tailpipe embellishers in the rear apron points to the vehicle’s plug-in hybrid drive concept.
The exterior of the BMW X7 Concept is finished in an exclusive Manhattan metallic colour shade. It runs on multi-spoke 23-inch light-alloy wheels with aerodynamically optimised inlays between the spokes which help reduce drag.
Like the side windows, the panoramic roof is surrounded by a chrome strip which runs from one A-pillar to the other. There is also a Y-shaped support structure on the roof which adds a modern touch.
Inside the roomy cabin of the BMW X7 Concept SUV, clean surfaces and high-quality materials create a highly exclusive, sophisticated ambiance. The large panoramic roof lets in the sunlight and provides an open-to-the-sky feel.
The six seats are arranged in three rows. Four of them have an exclusive individual design. The seat bolsters are covered in dark, olive-bronze leather with discreet gold pigmentation. The remaining part of the seats is adorned in Smoke White leather. A dark shoulder line runs underneath the windows and creates a continuous horizon throughout the cabin.
Materials such as open-pore ash in a dark-stained, matt finish along with Matt and polished aluminum have been carefully incorporated to add classy touches to the BMW Concept X7 iPerformance. Laser light strands in the roof and the dynamic ambient and contour lighting enhance the luxurious sense of spaciousness.
The instrument panel, center console and doors have been designed to wrap around the driver. The raised seating position provides excellent all-round visibility. The 12.3-inch instrument cluster screen and central touchscreen information display are situated next to each other giving an effect of a single unit.
The minimalist approach of the BMW X7 Concept design also trickles down to the center console as well. It features clean and chiseled surfaces. The selector lever, iDrive Controller and multifunction buttons on the steering wheel are created with backlit crystal glass in the dark Silver Night shade.
The passengers of the second-row seats can enjoy personalized infotainment comfort courtesy of the rear-seat entertainment system’s touchscreen monitors. Interactive LED choreography via the doors and instrument panel traces the communication flow between the rear screens and the display at the front of the cabin.
